Arab League chief: Hamas not a terror group
WASHINGTON – Arab League Secretary-General and one of Egypt's leading presidential candidates Amr Moussa does not believe Hamas is a terrorist organization.

In an interview with the Washington Post, Moussa said: "The view that Hamas is a terrorist organization is a view that pertains to a minority of countries, not a majority. Being a terrorist is not a stigma forever."

The former Egyptian foreign minister also said Israel should be pressured into lifting the Gaza blockade and stressed that Egypt must improve its relations with Tehran. The issue of Iran's nuclear program is separate from Israel's nuclear program, he said.

1. It is at least as much as is the IDF.
In fact, both Hamas and the Netanyahu government are terrorist organizations -- moral equivalents.

5. Both launch rockets killing civilians to advance a political agenda
Edited on Wed May-11-11 09:25 AM by Recursion
And then blame the other side that the civilians were "in the way".

It's pretty easy to see, no? And for that matter Hamas doesn't even launch the rockets anymore, Islamic Jihad does.

4. He's right about one thing...
Being a terrorist is not a stigma forever.

Hamas is only a terrorist organization for as long as it continues committing terrorist acts. Case in point: Begin was deeply involved with Irgun. He went on to become Israel's PM and make peace with Sadat. Likewise Arafat was Israel's public enemy #1 terrorist for many, many years. Yet they were willing to work with him regarding potential peace arrangements.

Point being, Hamas does not always have to represent terrorism. It is within their power to change that designation at any time. Especially in the Middle East, every group does not have to be defined by its past actions.

That said, Hamas is currently a bunch of total fucking terrorists.

6. What was the last act of terrorism committed by Hamas?
Not Islamic Jihad. Not "some Palestinian in Gaza". Hamas.

8. Hamas, not Al Qassam
Edited on Wed May-11-11 09:55 AM by Recursion
If we aren't able to distinguish between Sinn Fein and the IRA, we'd still be in the Troubles. This isn't rocket science; dealing with political parties that have ties to terrorism has worked in the past, though we seem to only want to do it with white people.
