Lebanon’s Palestinians to march to border
BEIRUT: Palestinian refugees will stage protests Sunday along Israel’s border with neighboring Arab states to commemorate the 1967 war, a senior Fatah commander in Lebanon said, while a Lebanese Army source told The Daily Star the army might prevent protesters from reaching the frontier.

“It is going to be a peaceful march toward the border stretching from the Naqoura to Khiam,” Fatah commander Munir Maqdah told The Daily Star Tuesday.
Asked about the possibility of protesters becoming targets of Israeli forces, Maqdah said the Palestinian people were ready to make sacrifices to return to Palestine. “Our people are ready. The road to Palestine is covered with thorns, Palestinians did not hesitate to step on land mines on May 15 on their way toward Palestine,” Maqdah added. “We are fed up with 63 years of displacement.”

Eleven Palestinians were shot dead by Israeli troops on May 15 in the border village of Maroun al-Ras, as thousands of unarmed Palestinians marched to the frontier to mark 63 years since the Nakba in 1948, when they were expelled from their homeland. The angry crowd threw stones at Lebanese Army troops who tried to prevent them from reaching the border.

"peaceful march toward the border stretching from the Naqoura to Khiam," Fatah commander

Why would a military commander be consulted about or be involved in a peaceful march?

3. they apparently didn't get the memo about Jordan being Palestine... silly, misguided children.
:sarcasm:

Knowing the Lebanese army, they will fire on the Palestinians and then serve some fine hummus to any nearby zionists with apologies for the slightest discomfort they may have incurred.

4. Fatah Secretary Stresses Imam Khomeini's Influence on Palestinian Resistance
TEHRAN (FNA)- Palestinian resistance is under the deep influence of the thoughts of the founder of the Islamic Republic, the late Imam Khomeini, a prominent figure of the Palestinian Fatah movement said.

Senior Leader of Palestinian Fatah and Secretary of Palestine Committee and Union in Lebanon Fathi Abu al-Aardat made the remarks in a meeting with Tehran's Envoy to Beirut Qazanfar Roknabadi.

Al-Aardat underlined Imam Khomeini's strong influence on the Palestinian resistance and on the restoration of their rights, and said the Islamic Republic has taught the Palestinians to insist on continued resistance and emphasize on their principles and causes.

"Definitely, Iran's supports have encouraged the Palestinian nation to take stronger steps in pursuing its rights and continuing resistance against the occupiers," Aaradat stated.

7. Palestinians cancel Naksa Day march to Israel-Lebanon border
Palestinian organizers in Lebanon who had planned a march to the border with Israel later this week say they have canceled it.

The organizers say that Sunday's planned march marking the 1967 Arab-Israeli war's anniversary would be replaced by strikes across all 12 of Lebanon's Palestinian refugee camps.
