Jaffa synagogue firebombed

A Molotov cocktail was hurled at a Jaffa synagogue Saturday evening, as tensions were rising in the central Israel town after two Arab cemeteries were vandalized over the weekend.

The firebomb hit the roof of the synagogue and did not cause significant damage. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Police officials arrived at the site and launched an investigation into the attack.

Meanwhile, some 150 Jewish and Arab Jaffa residents held an anti-racism rally Saturday night, where speakers issued harsh charges against Israel's government and top leaders.

The Blood Libel is a fairly specific trope - accusations that Jews kill Christian children to use their blood in passover rituals. It's nothing to do with mosque burning.

however the suspect arrested by Israeli is Jewish isn't he, are they self hating or what?

Although to be fair, all of these cemetary/synagogue/mosque vandals and whatnot are most likely kids, obviously immature, and may or may not have been put up to it by someone else.

The low grade moronism of this sort of vandalism beggars description, regardless.

I remember in my teen years doing a number of things that now make me cringe when I think of them.

MOSCOW, RUSSIAN - A group of Russian skinheads have been detained for throwing Molotov cocktails at a synagogue in the country's far eastern city of Khabarovsk, officials said Monday.


Nobody was injured in the attack overnight Saturday to Sunday, which was timed to take place ahead of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year holiday due to begin this Friday, the far eastern branch of Russia's interior ministry said.


"The nationalists acted in two groups: one threw bottles filled with a flammable mix at the windows of the synagogue; the other one, at a police officer's home," the ministry said in a statement.



"At the synagogue the young people chose as their target a room specially equipped for the education of small children."


The four skinheads, aged 15 to 23, face arson charges that carry a maximum sentence of five years in prison, the statement said.


The authorities were also considering whether to file additional charges of attempted murder for firebombing the home of the police officer, who was involved in investigating racist crimes, it said.

A Molotov cocktail was thrown Saturday evening at the roof of Rabbi Meir Ba'al Hanes synagogue in Jaffa. The building was empty at the time and there were no reports of casualties. Firefighters, police and medical teams were rushed to the scene.

The incident comes a day after two cemeteries, one Muslim and the other Christian, were vandalized by graffiti that said “Death to the Arabs”, and “price tag”. Headstones were smashed and racist slogans were spray-painted on graves.

I would have thought XBOX would have put a damper on this crap by now. Kids should be playing video games, not engaging in street thuggery and nasty vandalism.

Time for some covert surveillance equipment to be installed at "likely" locations. Catch 'em, and make an example of them.

Glad to hear that Jewish and Arab residents held an anti-racism rally together; but sad to see that it's needed to such an extent.
