Israel rejects proposal for truce within Green Line
Israel on Saturday rejected an agreement by
Palestinians meeting in Cairo to halt suicide
bombings in Israel without also agreeing to stop
shooting at Israel Defense Forces soldiers or
settlers, a senior official told Reuters.

"What kind of a cease-fire is it when there is no
cease-fire and you continue to shoot?" said the official,
who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The thirteen Palestinian factions reached an agreement
in principle on Saturday, but are continuing negotiations
on the details of the cease-fire agreement.

Outside the negotiations, Hamas spokesmen said
that the factions oppose a comprehensive
cease-fire, but would agree to discuss a halt
to attacks against civilians within the Green
Line.

Look at who is continuing the conflict unnecessarily. Certainly the civilians were never a legitimate target in the first place. This is indeed no cease fire.

1. From your article:
Islamic Jihad rejects truce

The Gaza Strip offices of the Islamic Jihad had issued a statement early Saturday morning declaring that the organization would not join any truce and vowing fresh attacks on Israel.

Gimel, this is just tragic and, of course, it is indeed no cease fire.

2. Also from your article...
Hamas officials said the group had agreed
on its position with four other factions and
would only consider freezing attacks on
soldiers and Jewish settlers in the occupied
West Bank and Gaza if Israel stopped all
attacks on Palestinians first.

Do you think the Palestinians should stop fighting while Israeli attacks continue ? Someone has to take the first step. It could be Israel.

3. First steps
Israel has taken the first step many times, only to be disappointed (with more loss of life). No doubt, Israel will take the first step again, when the time is right, not when the terrorists decide the time.

4. A cease-fire has
to include everybody, regardless of geographical location. Otherwise, you are just asking Israel to hang its soldiers and the settlers out to dry.

this is another attempt by the Palestinian leadership to acoomplish through lies and deceit what they cannot accomplish any other way, and should rightly be rejected by Israel.

5. LOL LOL LOL
There is a good probablity that this "senior official" (assuming they're close to Sharon) was personally involved in the Lebanon invasion. During which, there were multiple "cease-fires" agreed upon, and the Israelis immediately violated every single one of them.

So much so, that Israeli military correspondents at the time used to joke that cease-fire must be translated as something else in Hebrew.

Some cojones to condemn Hamas for a policy they're probably copying from the IDF. :D
