Palestinian artillery pounds Gaza Jews
Palestinian terrorist forces operating out of PA-controlled areas of the Gaza Strip pounded Jewish settlements in the area with mortar shells and anti-tank rockets throughout the weekend and into Sunday morning.

Miraculously, no injuries were reported during the intense weekend barrage.

In a related development, Israel Radio reported Sunday that despite the growing wave of Palestinian violence and the high number of terror warnings, Jerusalem would accede to US pressure and continue easing restrictions on the Palestinians.

"Historically, such 'gestures' to make Washington happy ended in the murder of Israelis in successful terrorist attacks," the IMRA news agency cautioned.

3. speaking of propaganda

"pounded Jewish settlements in the area with mortar shells and anti-tank rockets throughout the weekend and into Sunday morning."

but...

"Miraculously, no injuries were reported during the intense weekend barrage."

see, god is on our side

"Meanwhile, members of the IDF and Israel's Internal Security Services (Shin Bet) worked together over the weekend to thwart a major Palestinian terrorist attack in the Sharon coastal region - Israel's largest population center."

but...

"Details of the operation and the planned attack it had foiled had not been released for publication at press time."

shucks

and it goes on...

4. Well
I doubt the latter is propaganda. For instance, there was certainly significantly increased security in Tel-Aviv (roadblocks, document checking, vehicle searching etc) over the weekend.

Channel 2 did a large news segment on it apparently. Doubt that could fly in the same way 'terra' alerts do in the US.

The former is transparent nonsense.

Nothing new though. Bear in mind the talk of a 'massive artillery barrage' and the 'zeroing in of 155mm Horowitzers', 'pounding' Tel Aviv at the outbreak of the 6 Day War in 1967.

In that case, honest Israelis later admitted the shelling was 'symbolic'. Same in this case.

Amusing to see how the lies are rehashed though - different cirumstances, different Israeli governments, the same honesty.

6. Well, a couple of things to be said

The article says the details were "not released for publication" (my emphasis).

It therefore doesn't follow that there are no details, or that the press doesn't have them.

The military censor may be preventing publication, or there may be self-censorship for security considerations. There may be other suspects to track down for example.

Of course, there is no way to know for sure (when is there?), but what I'm saying that the actions of the police and military in Israel regarding this incident give credence to the story that a terrorist attack was planned, but did not happen.

Especially so when credible intel/military commentators in Israel report dozens of Palestinian attack attempts are prevented for every successful penetration of security.

7. In an academic sense you are correct

as it relates to propaganda.

For me it was the position of the blurb right after the original pearl of insight. Maybe that's why ther IDF couldn't get there to end the weekend bombardment.
