Lethal Israeli raid on Nablus
Thursday 18 December 2003

Israeli soldiers killed four Palestinians during a raid into the West Bank city of Nablus, one man being shot nine times in the chest.

Palestinian hospital sources identified one 25-year-old victim on Thursday morning as Ala al-Din Dawaya.

Dawaya, a bakery worker, was shot in the chest nine times along with three others whose identities are not yet known, the sources said.

Our correrspondent added Israeli occupation forces shot the four as they were looking for "wanted activists".

The four just happened to be militants.

Four Palestinians killed in IDF operation in Nablus

Israel Defense Forces soldiers killed four armed Palestinian militants during gun battles in the West Bank city of Nablus early Thursday, the IDF said.

Three of the four were among a group killed in fighting in the city's Old Quarter (casbah) overnight and the fourth, a member of Islamic Jihad, was shot dead while trying to plant a bomb close to IDF troops.

Troops also detained two would-be suicide bombers. One was arrested in Nablus and the second in the adjacent village of Assira Shimaliya.
