Israel Size Comparison Maps
I don't know if this has ever been posted here. This site is obviously pro-Israel, but I think it has interesting information everyone will find useful.

http://www.iris.org.il/sizemaps.htm

People commonly perceive Israel to be much larger than it really is. As a result, they fail to understand how difficult and painful it is for Israel to withdraw from land it holds.

If you think Israel is small, look how minuscule the Palestinian areas are. Imagine how upset they must be to see yet another settlement on the tiny sliver they get to live on.

The maps listed below compare the map of Israel with maps of other areas drawn to the same scale, to put Israel's size into perspective. In these maps, Israel is portrayed including all land currently under its authority. Still, Israel is small compared with most countries around the world, most states in the U.S. and most other countries in its region.

Sonething else to think about: The entire state of Israel, excluding the occupied territories, has about 6 million people. The occupied territories themselves have about 3 million people.

Here are come of the interesting maps:

I had no idea Kuwait was so small! :o

1. The map doesn't show the West Bank and Gaza
the light blue areas are the Golan heights and Jerusalem and suburbs (also not part of the original armistace).

3. Wow, good guess
The light blue areas are Lake Kineret in the North and The Dead Sea in the middle.

But, thanks for playing.

4. it's a crappy map
you are probably right but with the way it's pixelated it could be that optical illusion of Abraham Lincolns face.

The point anyway was that he said something about Palestinian areas and I don't think anyone in Israel has ever suggested drowning all of them in the Dead Sea and calling it a Palestinian state as a joke so they aren't that.

6. Will the new maps include all those
territories along the "peace fence" and all the new "peace settlements" as well? That's all Israel now right?

8. there is some irony here that I don't think you'd detect without help
if I remember correctly, you're one of those who so zealously pounces on any Palestinian who thinks of the whole of his historical homeland as his own and something to be recovered. Yet here are Israelis who deliberately imply that the whole of that which was criminally seized and occupied 3.5 decades ago (as opposed to the other side of a fictional line, taken in the same fashion a few years before but generally accepted) as their own.. I doubt that would've been seen as noteworthy to you, now would it?

Israel is a small country now at war. It can be a small, powerful, and prosperous country, at peace with the neighbors, if it pulls out of the occupied territories and supports the creation of another small country.

I'm so tired of reading about the fear of Israel being "driven into the sea." Can't happen, won't happen. Why would a neighbor try that? It would only fail and destroy itself in the process. We all know that the only thing that would be a problem for Israel is when the Arabs overtake them in numbers.
