Gaza death toll rises
The Israeli army is like a sociopathic serial killer - in a frenzied bloodlust of non-stop killing.

Al Jazeera

Ten Palestinians have been killed and 42 injured in an ongoing Israeli invasion of the Rafah refugee camp in the Gaza Strip.

The killings came as Israeli occupation soldiers stormed the camp in pre-dawn raids on Tuesday, claiming to be searching for subterranean smuggling tunnels from Egypt.

One of the victims has been identified as Ahmad al-Abid al-Najjar, 32, who died from head injuries after being struck by shrapnel from a shell, according to the sources.

Al-Najjar, who worked as a policeman at the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt, lived in the town's refugee camp.

Earlier, Khamis Anwar al-Rahi, a 21-year-old member of the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad movement died of his injuries after being struck by shell fragments, the sources said.

Also, Ayid Najar, 24, Halil al-Kassas, 50, and Ali Majah, 22, died during exchanges of fire with Israeli troops during the attack by some 15 jeeps and armored vehicles.

1. statement by PCHR

"We believe that the continued international silence serves only to encourage Israel and its occupying forces to perpetrate more war crimes and other grave breaches of the Fourth Geneva Conventions of 1949"

2. Democracy
The Only Democracy In the Middle East doin the righteous thing, again and again.

Poor tiny Israel, under attack from fanatical brown-colored terrorists from every direction, it's a matter of the existence and anything less is anti-semitic.

no reports yet of any "Peace Bullet" or "Peace Bulldozer" action, but it is still just a new event.

5. didn't see anything much more about that

sandwiched in a wire piece is a note that one Israeli soldier was wounded in the invasion (al-J reprinted just the same short note in their latest update, with no word given about any others), and a father of four killed just outside of Jenin as nearby villages were being sealed off and raided. The Israeli attacks in the Jenin area seem to be still going on, there may be more later. The military seems to have pulled out of Rafah for now, apparently satisfied at the 10d/42i racked up so far (and as I guessed in the other Rafah thread, the kid wounded with a "Peace Bullet" to the head ended up being #9 or #10 in the "d" column), but Nablus is still held under curfew after the full week of Israeli attacks.

I was thinking about a way to keep the board a bit better organized in these "periods of relative calm", one idea being to keep reports of specific sets of ongoing attacks in the OPT condensed into a thread or two for within a period of time (say, a week or so). Might make things easier to keep track of and would keep the rollover time on threads a bit lower..

6. correcting myself..
the kid that later died from a "Peace Bullet" to his head was from Balata/Nablus, not Rafah..
