State funding $1m road to Kahane seminary at illegal outpost
http://www.haaretzdaily.com/hasen/spages/378656.html

<snip>

"The state is footing the bill for the paving of a $1 million road leading to an illegal outpost in the West Bank, after a seminary dedicated to the teachings of the former leader of the extremist Kach party, Rabbi Meir Kahane, was built at the site."

<snip>

"The Tapuach West outpost, situated close to the settlement of Tapuach, consists of a wooden structure covered with stone. It is also used as center to perpetuate the memory of the extremist rabbi, as well as to commemorate Kahane's son and his wife, Benjamin and Dalia Kahane, who were killed in a shooting attack in December 2000."

<snip>

"Posters on lampposts and bulletin boards in Jerusalem invite the public to a ceremony at the seminary Sunday evening, offering transport in an armored bus.

One of the groups signed on the bottom of the poster is "Merkaz Harayon Hayehudi" (the Center for the Jewish Ideal) - the movement that spreads Kahane's philosophy. The group, along with others associated with the late extremist, are on the U.S. State Department's list of terror organizations."

1. It's funny
You look through other threads and see the same handful of people going "Apartheid? What Apartheid? Racism? Funding of racism? Where? I don't see it."

Maybe they've got a special filter set to entirely ignore stories like these?

2. Catch-22

I don't think we can post any background info on Kahane or Kach without violating:

Please avoid posting "information" from overtly racist websites. A good, but not exhaustive, guide is Franklin's Hate Directory (www.hatedirectory.com).

Of course, that is a statement by itself. Kahane is on the US State Dept list of terrorist organizations.

3. Update:
http://www.haaretzdaily.com/hasen/spages/378951.html

Lapid demands gov't discuss new $1 million road to illegal outpost

<snip>

"Justice Miniser Yosef (Tomy) Lapid intends to raise at Sunday's weekly cabinet meeting the matter of the new road recently paved to an illegal West Bank outpost near the Tapuah settlement, Israel Radio reported Friday."

<snip>

"Lapid will demand that the outpost be demolished by the Israel Defense Forces, and will investigate who gave approval for the road to be paved to the site, the report said."
