Anti-fence protesters detained in W. Bank
A number of Israeli left-wing activists were detained yesterday by police when security forces prevented them from reaching the West Bank village of Dir Balut to protest construction of the separation fence near the community.

The protesters then got off the buses, sat down and clasped arms, partially blocking the road. Police used water canons to disperse the activists and detained 28 demonstrators, including three foreigners. The rest of the demonstrators left on their own.

At Dir Balut itself, a few dozen Israeli demonstrators who had arrived earlier by other roads staged a protest march, together with some 150 Palestinians. The army did not interfere.

Apparently this happened on Jan 3, 2004. One of the foreign protesters was perhaps Ms. Rafael.

2. And you people wonder why they don't act like Ghandi over there.
Ghandi would get shot as a terrorist.

Dayr Balut is several miles north of Budrus, which is where she was seized (Hares, mentioned in the other piece, is NE of both).
