Tennenbaum says he was well treated in captivity
Tennenbaum says he was well treated in captivity
Tells interrogators: Hezbollah food much better than the food I get here.
Ben Kaspit

When the details of the prisoner exchange deal were still being worked out,
shocking reports of Elhanan Tennenbaum being submitted to Hezbollah torture were made public. At that time, he was reported to have had all his teeth extracted by Hezbollah tormentors, suffering from a serious illness and being denied medical treatment.

Tennenbaum is now saying that the Hezbollah treated him well, gave him three meals a day and provided him with good medical care, including a CAT scan. Tennenbaum says that he received proper dental treatment and was even given anesthesia before having a tooth extracted by a competent dentist. He also told interrogators that the food in Hezbollah captivity was much better than what he is being fed in Israel.

Prior to the prisoner swap, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said that Tennenbaum was doomed and had been tortured by the Hezbollah, which reported had extracted all his teeth and fingernails. However, anonymous sources involved in the case say that before Tennenbaum’s release, the German mediator conveyed a different impression, similarly to what Tennenbaum is now telling his interrogators.
