1. Know that this doesn't represent all Muslims
(If you think that, I could argue that Jerry Falwell represents all Christians. :) I do think that Yemen, along with Saudi Arabia, encourages the Wahhabi sect of Islam, which is one that teaches hatred and intolerance, especially of Jews.
Sufis that I know have been praying for peace.

2. No, it most certainly does not represent all Muslims...

and I'm sure that it isn't hard to find anti-Muslim statements by Jews and Christians. Or anti-Muslim laws, for that matter. Not that the good old democracy in the beautiful state of Israel would ever enact a racist law, of course... :eyes:

5. You are telling me?
Semites are practicing Anti-Semitism?

Go back to the books doc and figure out what exactly a 'Semite' is before you start slagging them.

There are actually solid arguements that show many of the 'white' Eastern Europeans who run Israel are not even blood linked to any Semites (this has been proven with DNA) and are eastern European converts. We can discuss that further if you would like.

Let's look at it another way... now. Let me rewrite what you wrote.

-----------------

"Concluding, President Bush prays to God: "O God, support those supporting Christianity and disappoint those disappointing Jews. O God, help our soldier everywhere score victory over their enemies. O God, encourage them.

O God, destroy the sons of Islam. O God, destroy the terrorists and
Arabic enemies of the True God, shake the ground under them, instill panic into their hearts, and freeze the blood in their veins. O God, close the ranks of Jews and Christians and eradicate these people."

------------

Now tell me you have not heard anything like that ringing on your christian cable networks like TBN. I have heard worse to be frank.

These people hate Americans and Zionists and, frankly, I don't blame them. If you have any inkling of America's foreign policy in the region over the last 50 years, you may understand.

But then again, America can't even bother to face its own history with its slaughter of the Natives and subsequent theft of land. Now American Natives have seen pilfering of money and all types of hands in the cookie jar by corrupt politicians in Washington. Not unlike the billions (900 dollar toilet seats etc) that cannot be accounted for by the DOD.

Oh, and before you get all stickly and weird about my comments, I carry Jewish and Native blood in my veins.

6. Semites
according to Webster's Dictionary:

1 a : a member of any of a number of peoples of ancient southwestern Asia including the Akkadians, Phoenicians, Hebrews, and Arabs b : a descendant of these peoples
2 : a member of a modern people speaking a Semitic language

Perhaps it is you who needs to know what the word means.

I do have a question for you. What makes you think that the Jews in Israel are not decendents of the ancient Isralites? Are African-Americans who have been in this country since 1619, speak English, where western clothing, and are western in outlook and lifestyle not of African?

As for hatred, I have never heard of Muslim hatred being advocated during prayer services, nor, as far as I know, is it official Israeli policy. Look at Palestinian Media Watch and you will be sadly surprised. Look at Egyption, Jordanian, ect radio and TV.

7. So can you please refrain from using Anti-Semite in the future?
****Now that you have read Webster's Dictionary?****

-----------

Perhaps it is you who needs to know what the word means.

-----------

****Um I just told you what it meant. And you looked it up and proved me right.****

------------

I do have a question for you. What makes you think that the Jews in Israel are not decendents of the ancient Isralites?

------------

****If you read slowly and carefully you will see that I wrote that there is DNA evidence that many Eastern European Jewish people are genetically of Khazar descent... or of European lineage not Semetic.

Over a thousand years ago, the far east of Europe was ruled by Jewish kings who presided over numerous tribes, including their own tribe: the Turkic Khazars. After their conversion, the Khazar people used Jewish personal names, spoke and wrote in Hebrew, were circumcised, had synagogues and rabbis, studied the Torah and Talmud, and observed Hanukkah, Pesach, and the Sabbath. The Khazars were an advanced civilization with one of the most tolerant societies of the medieval period. It hosted merchants from all over Asia and Europe.****

**** That answers that question. And just to add, do you realize how much discrimination arab and african jews face in the motherland of Israel. That is also worth some googling if you have the time.****

___________

Are African-Americans who have been in this country since 1619, speak English, where western clothing, and are western in outlook and lifestyle not of African?

____________

****Not of African what? Descent? Well I don't know, it depends how much 'blood' you have in you and what you feel you are I suppose. Haitians have over a dozen names to describe the whiteness and blackness of one's skin. Oh, and they were the first black republic, in the western hemisphere. And then again Bob Marley's father was a Liverpudlian sailor as white as a ghost. I find this question rather shallow... are you a Freeper by chance?****

-------------

As for hatred, I have never heard of Muslim hatred being advocated during prayer services, nor, as far as I know, is it official Israeli policy. Look at Palestinian Media Watch and you will be sadly surprised. Look at Egyption, Jordanian, ect radio and TV.

------------

**** Have you seen ADL's move on Mel Gibson's new movie? Oh... ok. Man you need to take a good close look on how things are always being worded and balance that with how it is impenetrating your skull.

Palestinians are always 'terrorists' and Israelis are always on 'security' missions. It's bullshit. Israel has more violations against the UN that Iraq did/does... Americans just gave them another 12 Billion dollars to prop the regime of Sharon, the war criminal (oh he better not set foot in Belgium).

Enough said, you have flamed me enough. You just need to read better son.

I am going to answer this canard once and for all.

As for the Genetic studies, I am afraid an opposite conclusion to what you are talking about has been reached. Multiple studies have conclusively proven that the Askhenazi population has a Mediterranean/Middle Eastern origin and a Central European migration route. This ties quite well with the historical traditions of the Askhenazi.

Part of the reason for scientists ability to trace this as well as they have is the Ashkenazi Jews have proven a very insular group tolerating a minimal inflow of outside genes. What inflow has occured has been matrilinearly, which accounts quite well for what few differences do occur.

A couple of references:

http://www.forward.com/issues/2001/01.08.17/genetic2.html
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2003/02/030228071643.htm

Khazaria was nothing more than a transitory blip in Jewish History. While it is an interesting historical diversion, the original theory espoused by Koestler claiming a Khazarian origin for Askhenazi Jews has not stood the test of time. Unfortunately, people have latched onto this out-dated theory to make pseudo-scientific claims whose real basis hides a distinct and bigoted political agenda.

As such, there is no place for this topic in this forum. Please avoid making such references in the future.

9. I can get as "stickly and weird" as I want
whatever that means. Here is a link that shows that by saying "There are actually solid arguements that show many of the 'white' Eastern Europeans who run Israel are not even blood linked to any Semites (this has been proven with DNA) and are eastern European converts. We can discuss that further if you would like. " you are passing along an anti-Semitic libel.
http://www.cohen-levi.org/jewish_genes_and_genealogy/the_dna_chain_of_tradition.htm

"Wider genetic studies of diverse present day Jewish communities show a remarkable genetic cohesiveness. Jews from Iran, Iraq, Yemen, North Africa and European Ashkenazim all cluster together with other Semitic groups, with their origin in the Middle East. A common geographical origin can be seen for all mainstream Jewish groups studied.

This genetic research has clearly refuted the once-current libel that the Ashkenazi Jews are not related to the ancient Hebrews, but are descendants of the Kuzar tribe--a pre-10th century Turko-Asian empire which reportedly converted en masse to Judaism. Researchers compared the DNA signature of the Ashkenazi Jews against those of Turkish-derived people, and found no correspondence."

When are we finally going to put to rest the twin pieces of garbage that Ashkenazis are really not Semites, and that the Semite in anti-Semite also refers to Arabs? Your Native family has done a better job of educating you than the Jews in your line have. (Actually, I hope you're not my cousin, who is also mixed Jewish and Native American)

10. Do you think
A link like cohen-levi.org will convince me? Please. Find something a little more neutral. Either way the evidence I propose shows that Black Yemeni Jews are closer to the Israelite bloodline that Khazaric European Jews.

----------------

In recent years, advances in genetic technology and the broadening in scope of genetic studies to encompass more ethnic groups have allowed scientists to come to more accurate conclusions.

Nevertheless, not all questions have been answered fully, and followup studies are necessary. At the present time, it is known that Eastern European Jews have a significant Eastern Mediterranean element which manifests itself in a close relationship with Kurdish, Armenian, Palestinian Arab, Lebanese, Syrian, and Anatolian Turkish peoples.

At the same time, there are traces of European (including Western Slavic) and Khazar ancestry among European Jews.

Ethiopian Jews mostly descend from Ethiopian Africans who converted to Judaism, but may also be related to a lesser extent to Yemenite Jews.

Yemenite Jews descend from Arabs and Israelites. North African Jewish and Kurdish Jewish paternal lineages come from Israelites.

Additional research is necessary, and it will certainly take several more years to sort it all out. All existing studies fail to compare modern Jewish populations' DNA to ancient Judean DNA and medieval Khazarian DNA, and many of them focus on paternal ancestries rather than maternal ancestries, so the extrapolations and assumptions made by geneticists may not necessarily be correct. Studies that do take into account mtDNA show that many Jewish populations are related to neighboring non-Jewish groups maternally.

14. If you find any...
medieval Khazarian DNA, you can let us know. Why the willingness to believe and pass along the canard that Jews aren't REALLY from the Middle East? Why is there no skepticism about the sources of that lie? Do you know that pushing that notion is an indication to some of us here that you are using anti-Semitic sources? If Ashkenazis were really descended from a Turkish people who converted, their DNA would have something in common with modern people from that area, but they don't. Why do you just assume that an honest effort by Jews to study their own DNA (for other reasons) is automatically suspect when it turns up something you'd rather not hear? Why the eagerness to strip Jews of their own history? Do you do the same to Christians? Shall we ask you why some Native American tribes won't allow scientific access to a body that appears to be an ancient non-Indian (Caucasian? Russian? )found on a reservation? Why are we willing to back down in the face of Native insistance that they have been here since the beginning of time, when there is some evidence that they may have come over the land bridge from Asia? They were still here first. The Apaches, from their Athabascan linguistic roots, show that they swept down from Canada and ended up in the Southwest rather late in the game. Does that make them interlopers who don't belong there?
Be careful about trying to reorder history to your liking; it may bite you.

Following your "logic" only Yemenite Jews belong in Israel. Please post this on an Arab board.

Semites and Jews are not synonyms. I personally believe that almost all Jews, Ashkenazic (sp?) and Sephardic as well, are ethnically semitic, but those that converted and are European aren't semitic at all-but that doesn't mean that they aren't Jews.

There are two definitions of a Semite. This includes those descended from Shem (Hebrews, Lebanese, Arabs among others). The second are those whose native language is a Semitic language (Arabic, Hebrew).

I don't think every Jew views Hebrew as their native language. I would consider English my native langauge, though I'm a Jew. It depends on how you define "native language."

26. You are correct
A lot depends on what the exact intent of the speaker. To me the issue of being Semitic is not very important in the overall scheme of things. Anti-Semitic on the other hand was coined by Wilhelm Marr as an attempt to create an pseudo-scientific and intellectually palatable/acceptable form of the crass Judenhass and has nothing to do with the anthropological meaning Semitism.

29. Anti-semitism refers to Jews no matter who Semite refers to.
Exactly Lithos, but even though the facts are presented it will keep getting brought up as an argument that Arabs can't be anti-Semitic. We need a reference page with all the old canards and anti-Semitic myths posted on it with numbers so we can just refer people to the correct debunking instead of having to repeat them adnauseum.

According to Merriam Webster-

an·ti-Sem·i·tism
Pronunciation: "an-ti-'se-m&-"ti-z&m, "an-"tI-
Function: noun
Date: 1882
: hostility toward or discrimination against Jews as a religious, ethnic, or racial group

12. It is totally wrong to talk hatred against Jews....
So, I think that last line was totally uncalled for, but let's reword the rest of what you quoted.

"O God, support those supporting Judaism and Christianity
and disappoint those disappointing them and the Americans. O God, help our Zionist and American
brothers everywhere score victory over their enemies. O God, encourage
them. O God, destroy the sons of Muhummad. O God, destroy the Pro-Palestinian and Iraqi enemies of Christianity/Judaism, shake the ground under them, instill panic into
their hearts, and freeze the blood in their veins."

Do you honestly think that Jews, Christians, and Americans have not been praying similar things? What's the difference?
