Quick question concerning the death of Rachel Corrie.
Did Bush express outrage in regards to the death of Rachel Corrie the same way that he made a press event out of showing "outrage" in the death of Nick Berg? Do your politics make a difference when you are unjustly murdered for your beliefs in a foreign land?

4. You know I never noticed anything spoken about Corrie....
from the White House.

The only thing that probably came from the White House were probably snickers and giggles when Rachel Corrie died.

9. Interesting
It seems that there are a myriad of opinions about the Rachel Corrie incident (I'm trying to be neutral in my language) in this forum.

Perhaps the argument that the difference between the two sides in the culture war is that the "Right" marches in lock step while the "Left" constantly disagrees with itself has some validity.

2. Rachel Corrie and Nick Berg's deaths
have very little in common, Berg was brutaly murdered on film as a propaganda piece. Corrie for all intents and purposes committed suicide by stayingin front of a slow moving bulldozer.

11. It was at very worst manslaughter. Bulldozers have breaks
and She had feet. Which put her there, and which she could get hell out of the way with.

8. Me thinks Berg committed suicide by going to Iraq
and wandering around like he had no cares in the world.

3. Probably no help, but...
I followed the Corrie story closely for the better part of a year, and recall not a single expression of grief or anything remotely resembling "outrage" from the Bunnypants admin.

I do, however, recall a slew of stomach-turning "jokes" from FR, the very least of which concerned a cleansing of the gene pool, and unbridled glee over the ad slogan, "Nothing runs like a Deere." (Come to think of it, FR maintained a special section just for Rachel Corrie jokes -- I believe it's gone now, but still accessible through Google's cache.)

The RW to this day believes Rachel got what she "deserved." And I to this day pray I am never forced to share the same breathing space with these cretins.

7. Rachel Corrie wasn't murdered. She put herself in the path of a bulldozer
Edited on Wed May-19-04 06:50 AM by Bombtrack
in the name of people whose declared goal is to destroy another country. Not that she was even saving any innocent Pallestinians(of which the vast majority of pallestinians are, innocent, non-terrorist people). But she wasn't even trying to save them. She was trying to save a building.

And her death was unfortunate, but it was more her own fault than anybody else's. Rachel Corrie being naive and having delusions of grandeur got her killed. Not the big bad jews in any primary way.

I feel bad for her and wish she of course deserves to be alive, but just as much the IDF do NOT deserve the accusation of MURDER when she was the one who went to a foreign country and squatted in the path of heavy machinary belonging to government workers.

The people who others above speak of as saying she deserved to die because of her political beliefs are just retarded and awful and way off base. But I see the basis of this idolitry of her from people as being steeped in nothing but the propadandic emotionally driven hatred of Israel and I have a problem with that.

If I were an IDF worker, and they are people I generally have respect for, people like Rachel Corrie(before she was killed) doing the kinds of things they did and saying the kind of things they said would piss me off and frustrate me, but not enough where I could personally justify either running her over or letting her get run over. I would have done everthing I could to restrain, arrest, and relocate her to solve the problem. But that doesn't mean others who did not do that and went ahead are muderers or Israel is a murderer
