Victory is the only option

In responding in this manner to the IAF's action, Abbas was nothing if not revealing. Abbas is not Israel's partner in peace. Abbas is Hamas's partner in war. That is, he is an enemy of the State of Israel.

snip

The hudna's architects never claimed that it involved a complete cessation of terrorist operations against Israel. Because of this, it is not at all strange that, after the Jerusalem massacre both Hamas and Islamic Jihad, who jointly claimed credit for murdering Jewish babies and parents, announced that they would continue to adhere to their hudna. There is no contradiction between attacks like the bus bombing and the hudna. The only side whose actions are constrained by the hudna is Israel.

snip

It must be wonderful to be Abbas and Dahlan and Arafat. They can stand before the world and be embraced as peacemakers while making war on Israel. No matter what they do, no matter what atrocities they enable or conduct, they will never be blamed. Patience with them will never run out.

great article.

1. The bottom line.
"Reacting to the IAF's strike in Gaza that took out Hamas terrorist Ismail Abu Shanab yesterday afternoon, Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas minced no words. The man who had cautiously explained Tuesday that the massacre of children and their parents traveling on a bus on their way home from the Western Wall "did not serve the national interests" of the Palestinians, referred to the killing of Shanab, a murderer, as "a heinous crime."

so blowing up a bus of israelis is against the "national interest"

but killing a terrorist is a "heinous crime".

what an asshole.

2. Get yr facts straight...
It only takes a quick look at the media reports from something other than the right-wing rag yr using to know that Abbas did indeed condemn the suicide bombing.

"In Gaza City, Abbas said: "I declare my strong condemnation of this terrible act that doesn't serve the interests of the Palestinian people." He said he offered "my real sorrow" to the families of the victims."

http://www.startribune.com/stories/484/4050355.html

So, 'strong condemnation of this terrible act' isn't good enough for folk like you? At least Abbas has never stooped to the level of making jokes about the deaths of innocent people, something you've done here before...

15. Yeah,

23. Did you bother reading what he actually said??
He CONDEMNED the attack and said his real sorrow went out to the families of the victims. Call that an evil attitude if you want, but it's exactly how I feel and reminds me of the time some idiot posting here attacked me for calling a suicide-bombing tragic. According to this bright-spark the adjective I was using wasn't powerful enough, therefore I was being insensitive. No matter what people say, it's a lose-lose situation as far as I'm concerned. And of course the attack didn't serve the interests of the Palestinian people. What's so horribly evil about pointing out that blatantly obvious fact????

unfortunately youre right. The only reason he
condemned this atrocity is because it didnt serve
the national "interests".

he's nothing but arafat with a better suit.

16. Abbas
condeming the bombing is about as sincere as Cheney condeming the high price of gas.

4. Shanab wasn't military
There is no reason why he would ever even want to know the details of a bombing, he was political and it was a political assassination.

Worthwhile or unworthwhile if he was a "murderer" than anyone involved with any of the political parties in Israel is a "murderer".

5. Thank you for this message!
Because of the hatred directed at those of us who want to see Israel survive, it took me all these posts to get up the nerve to use the Star of David as my icon. Figured I'd build up my left-wing credibility and then blow their minds when I finally felt I was safe enough to use it. Anyway, I still don't have the masochism to go directly to the I/P forum, however, when posts like yours show up under "Latest", I sometimes take a look. What a wonderful surprise to feel able to post on this one!

Shalom,
cherryperry

12. it's trash
I think it's hillarious to watch the Abbas spin go into action and the usual dupes to slurp it all out and regurgite it.

Israel dumps negotiating with the actual elected representative of the Palestinians, hand-picks a "negotiating" partner so the usual suspects shut up about him until they get the marching orders from the JPost to hate him. It's hillarious.

17. I agree!
However, I come back to check on the thread and there have been several deleted messages! Did you catch a glimpse at any before they were removed? Am I to presume they were exactly the reason I am afraid to go to I/P?

26. I've got no idea why yr so curious...
Nor why yr afraid to go to I/P, but if deleted posts and the reasons for them being deleted are burning you up with curiousity, why don't you simply PM the mods and ask them? I think you'll find that just about everyone posting here ends up having posts deleted at some point or other and there's no great mystery about most of them, nor is there as you seem to be implying only a deletion of posts that don't agree with yr views on the issue...

25. Left-wing credibility?
No offense, but I don't give a rat what 'left-wing credibility' you claim you've painstakingly built up if yr going to sit around accusing anyone who doesn't blindly support everything Israel does of hating Israel and wanting its destruction. And as far as I'm concerned left-wing credibility amounts to zero if someone is going to sit around and ignore or even worse deny human rights violations committed against the Palestinian people...
