According to report by “al-Sharq al-Awsat”. Leukemia diagnosis ruled out; likely cause of ailment connected to digestive and hematological problems.

"Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will visit Yasser Arafat in the Paris hospital where the Palestinian leader is being treated, the London-based Arab daily “al-Sharq al-Awsat” has reported."

"Palestinian officials said that doctors have told Arafat that he has not been diagnosed with leukemia. However, an exact diagnosis has yet to be determined or released to the press, nor were reports about his improvement confirmed by official hospital sources. Arafat is likely suffering from digestive and hematological problems.

The hospital’s medical staff is trying to create a peaceful environment around Arafat that would enable him to rest. In order not to exhaust the PA chief, doctors have decided to limit the number of visits he would receive."

"According to the source, doctors are only allowing Arafat to hold one telephone conversation a day. On Tuesday, he spoke with Cuban leader Fidel Castro, who sent him flowers and a ‘get well soon’ greeting card."
