Settlers threaten IDF refusal if pullout takes place
Elsewhere I notice NuttyYahooo abandoned his threat to
leave the Cabinet or whatever it was.

Gaza Strip settlers, declaring that the security forces have become a tool of "the dictator Sharon" have begun circulating a petition threatening that if the prime minister's disengagement plan is carried out, the settlers and their families would refuse to serve in the security forces.
The petition marks the first time since the start of the debate on the disengagement plan, that groups on Israel's right have made a general appeal to refuse serving in the Israeli Defense Forces, and not limit their refusal to taking part in the actual evacuation of settlements.

The signatories, numbering thus far in the dozens, declared they would work to persuade other Israelis to join in their threat. They also said they intended to create a movement for their cause.

Under the disengagement plan all 21 Gaza Strip settlements and four northern West Bank settlements would be dismantled by May, 2005.

2. so what?
how many people are in the settlements, anyway? It would give them less influence over the IDF, which is better for Israel anyway, isn't it?

3. I was thinking the IDF could refuse to guard them in return.
A win/win scenario, eh?

4. Perfect solution.
A problem of Sharon's own making.

Let him stew.
