False tears and moral bankruptcy
From the way world leaders reacted to the death of Yasser Arafat, you could be forgiven if you had mistakenly believed that Mother Theresa had died. Kofi Annan declared himself "deeply moved" by Arafat's death and ordered the UN flag flown at half mast. This is the same Annan who overruled UN General Romeo Dallaire in April 1994 and ordered him not to use his UN forces to disarm the Hutus and prevent them from hacking to death 800,000 Tutsis.

snip

Then there was French President Jacques Chirac, whose stomach-turning pronouncement on the death of the godfather of modern terror – whom Chirac praised in death as a man of "courage and conviction" – was that he was all choked up and could barely speak.

snip

It is time that the world recognized these three despicable men – Kofi Annan, Jacques Chirac, and Jimmy Carter – as constituting a Western "Axis of Evil," three leaders whose long careers have been devoted to apologizing for tyrants, propping up dictators, demonstrating contempt for their victims and, above all, espousing an irrational hatred of Israel that would normally be called anti-Semitism.

snip

That an elderly man of acknowledged saintliness could pray for God to welcome Arafat in heaven, rather than send him to the pit of hell, is confusing to all who look to the pope for guidance. How could the Vicar of Christ ignore Arafat's theft of billions from his impoverished and desperate nation? Is not what Arafat did an affront to everything Jesus stood for, which was primarily a dedication to the oppressed, the poor, and the persecuted? I have long loved this pope for his devotion to the poor of the Third World. Why would he suddenly turn on all those who have been blown to pieces by Arafat's bombers over a 40-year career?

" espousing an irrational hatred of Israel that would normally be called anti-Semitism."

I find that hard to believe.

4. "Love thine enemies" is fine.
I think wishing a terrorist, liar and murderer like arafat a long happy

eternity in heaven is ignoring the path of destruction and bloodshed

he caused.

13. give me a link
to the "antisemtism" you waffle on so much about, till then I don't think I'll waste any time searching the archives to "prove" something everyone knows - I've also mentioned a friend of my families who despite spending years in a Nazi camp was referred to here as a self hater for having the temerity to not follow the Israeli line.

It's easy to get around rules that proscribe the use of the term "self hater" or "zionist" you just say all those who hold such views are XYZ.

Why the fuck by the way are you pointing out Melbourne organisations that I wouldn't want a bar of? it may just be me but that comes across as rather creepy you know?

Here's an organisation YOU might like, I can contact them for if you'd like

Jews Against the Occupation
Prince Street Station
PO Box 494

7. Playing the antisemitism card
shows the weaknesses inherent in your positions.

Arafat was a leader of the Palestinian people "forever". He was certainly better than several other choices and walked a rather moderate path, all things considered.

Your comic book world does neither Israel nor yourself any justice.

..that the moron who wrote the article was big on saying that Jimmy Carter, amongst others, is an anti-Semite due to his *irrational hatred* of Israel, but never once pointed to any examples of that *irrational hatred*? Don't know about anyone else here, but I'd love to learn more about this *irrational hatred* of Israel that Jimmy Carter displayed as President. My guess is any attempts to be even-handed or support a peaceful and fair resolution to the conflict is considered to be anti-Semitism by this nitwit and his gang of singlebraincelled followers. But I'd be willing to be proved wrong!

For other *splutter* pearls of wisdom from the author, check these out! They're hilarious!

What Kerry's attraction to wealthy wives says about his character

Alas, there is yet one other important consideration that should get us all thinking. Before they married, Teresa Heinz made John Kerry sign a prenuptial agreement. Which begs the question: If his own wife doesn't trust him with her money, why should we trust him with ours?

Jewish ingratitude toward George W. Bush

Arab-American disdain for President Bush is positively shocking. With Afghanistan and Iraq, George Bush has liberated more Arabs and Muslims than any other man in all human history. In Saddam, he also removed from power the man who murdered more Arabs than any other, a figure numbering – according to the New York Times – at least 800,000 Arabs (not to mention 300,000 Kurds). After 9-11, President Bush also defended the Islamic faith eloquently as a religion of peace, even while many Americans were feeling implacable hostility. With all this, Arab-Americans still see Bush as their enemy, which makes you wonder whether the Arabs really know who their friends are.

The misguided Arab approach toward President Bush is inversely reminiscent of the misguided African-American relationship with President Clinton, the man who famously stood by and did absolutely nothing while 800,000 black Africans were hacked to death with machetes in 1994. Still, he is revered today by African-Americans as "the nation's first African-American president," an epithet which, in light of his inaction in the face of African genocide, is nothing short of obscene.

But I am a Jew, and it is the actions of my own community which most concern me. With just days left in this presidential race, it is time we take the gloves off, point a finger, and say, "J'accuse." I accuse the American Jewish community of profound ingratitude toward a man who has repeatedly stood up for the justice of the Israeli cause, thereby incurring the implacable hatred of a world who have long loathed Israel and assassinated the character of its defenders.

The Rise of the Moral Voter

The American people have once again demonstrated that they are the most glorious on earth. The entire world ganged up on them to dump a president whose signature issue was a belief that people have a right to be free.

http://www.shmuley.com/index.php?section=article&id=121

Hollywood brought Kerry down

In reality, the No. 1 moral issue for most Americans is not gay marriage, but the foul and sleazy culture which is destroying their children's innocence. And it was John Kerry's alignment with Hollywood and its celebrities – who came out in full force for his elevation – that ultimately did him in.

I am uncertain as to who is worse, this author and his almost mindless screed that beggars the imagination, or a poster who would actually use this crap to "prove" a point? (Mengele was a Doctor also......)

A people who should understand, at least as much as any on the face of the earth, about the need for justice, fairness and tolerance, about the rights of all people to have a home and homeland have fallen this far....Though in all fairness I should note that there are increasing numbers of Israelis who are questioning their governments genocidal policies.

Also, having ended the ban on written histories of the early days of the nation of Israel, allowing revisionist noting of the way Israelis took Arab farms and lands in the late forties and very early fifties, the government does display a bit of democratic intent, at least to its own.
