PA candidate Barghouti: Israel is trying to hinder my campaign
"Left-wing Palestinian chairmanship candidate Mustafa Barghouti ...
LOL. Coming soon, "The People's Republic of Palestine".

Left-wing Palestinian chairmanship candidate Mustafa Barghouti said Thursday Israel is trying to hinder his campaign in the territories in every way it can.
"So far soldiers mistreated me in seven roadblocks, delayed my entry to an election meeting in the village of Biddya, refused me entry to Shahid street and Tel Rumeida in Hebron, detained me at the Sanur roadblock and assaulted me and five of my assistants. Also, police detained me for over five hours at the Erez crossing," Barghouti said.

The election candidate added: "The Palestinian street is thirsty for democracy, I am convinced the elections will be run democratically. Even if I do not win the elections I am very optimistic since the Palestinian people has demonstrated democratic responsibility."

Barghouti claims that in a recent poll held for his campaign, PLO chairman Mahmoud Abbas won 44 percent and Barghouti 40 percent, while 16 percent of the poll takers have not yet decided who to vote for. Barghouti claims it is therefore premature to say that Abbas is guaranteed to win the elections in light of these results.
