Report: Abbas to announce new stance on right of return
Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas will tell militant Palestinian factions meeting in Cairo Tuesday that the right of return of refugees should be looked upon "realistically," and that not all Palestinian exiles will return to former homes in Israel and the territories, Israel Radio said, quoting the London-based Asharq al Awsat newspaper.

Palestinian sources told the paper that Abbas will tell the participants in the Cairo parley that the right of return cannot be fully implemented, and that those who cannot return should be granted compensation.

Palestinian officials hope that the planned three days of discussions will conclude with a declaration of a hudna, or cease-fire, to which all Palestinian organizations will agree, including such militant groups as Hamas and the Islamic Jihad.

Abbas is expected to ask the groups to agree to a truce even if Israel violates it. He will stress that he will hold firm in talks with Israel on other core issues, including Jerusalem, settlements, and release of Palestinian prisoners.

1. This is a painful move, but a necessary one
No peace agreement is going to be reached that contains the right of Palestinians to return to lost property inside Israel proper; we always knew that. No peace agreement is going to be reached that allows Israel to guarantee the security of settlements beyond her boundaries; we always knew that, too.

There are many other issues that must be resolved, but those are two of the biggest. There has been positive movement on these matters as of late.

2. Check out that term "granted compensation". Now who exactly do you think
will be asked to pay that compensation? Citizens of the good old USA, that's who! Funny how that always goes unstated. Why doesn't Bush mention to all his fans in Red state America that they will be paying for cleaning up the mess the Israeli settlers have created by expanding the State of Israel far beyond the boundaries of the original U.N mandate.

How about a little truth? Is that too much to ask?

3. Wrong
The mess was made by the USofA and the United Kingdom - and our "chosen instruments of economic hegemony" as fully described in

    1. House of Bush, House of Saud : The Secret Relationship Between the World's Two Most Powerful Dynasties by Craig Unger

    2. A Century Of War : Anglo-American Oil Politics and the New World Order by F. William Engdahl

We (US and UK and our "chosen instruments of economic hegemony," i.e. "Big Oil") grew fat and prospered by setting Israeli against Palestinian, and ripping off the "Non-Royals" and "Non-Princelings" and "Non-Dictators" in the Arab World.

Google "Sykes-Picot" for even more details.

Certainly cheaper then paying protection through the "gas pump" and Big Oil and the "Royals" and their madrasahs to the terrotists (lots of hands out for a cut).

4. Well, I don't disagree with that. In this mess there is plenty of blame
to go around. Just a shortage of truth.
