'New approach to anti-Semitism needed'
"After two years away from the office, MK Michael Melchior is glad to be in charge of Diaspora affairs for the government again.

" Sharansky kept the office well," Melchior said this week, "but I'm grateful to him for leaving," he added jokingly.

Although he does not enjoy the title of minister as Sharansky did, Melchior is eager to get back to the work he started in managing the Diaspora affairs portfolio under former prime minister Ehud Barak and in Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's first government.

Still on his to-do list is developing creative approaches to various aspects of anti-Semitism abroad."

2. I thought so.
Oddly enough...it wasn't good enough for LBN although it meets all the standards.

3. Melchior - Society's problem and civilization's problem
Fundamentally, he said, "We have to make it understood that anti-Semitism is not a Jewish problem, that this is society's problem and civilization's problem. We need to activate a leadership among non-Jews who believe in human rights to take responsibility... it can't be only Jewish organizations who are working on this."

Specifically, and especially after the recent London bombings, Melchior would like to strengthen Jewish and Israeli ties with moderate Islamic states and groups, and forge coalitions with Islamic and Christian groups abroad.

This is the gist of the article -- any form of racism or bigotry is society's problem -- and not the victim's problem. Doesn't matter who the victim is - African-Americans, Arab-Americans, Asian-Americans, Jewish-Americans, Latino-Americans, Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transexual-Americans, Handicappers, whatever. It is society's problem.

Here's where I get my "Disruptor" logo -- as far as I am concerned - the stand one takes on this issue is the key differentiator of "Progressive" versus "Conservative." Everything else is secondary.
