Aljazeera....fanning the flames....
Aljazeera has chosen for its website headlines:

Egyptian experts say Mossad could be behind bombings
http://www.aljazeera.com/me.asp?service_ID=9282

"Several Egyptian security experts and political analysts said that the Mossad, Israel's spy agency, was behind Saturday's attacks on the Red Sea resort of Sharm al-Sheikh.

Similar accusations were made against Israel in the past, particularly after last year's attack at the Taba Hotel in October and after the 9/11 attacks in the United States.

Saturday's pre-dawn blasts killed more than 64 people, according to Egypt's health ministry, although hospital officials put the toll as high as 88.

Many Egyptian security officials said at least one car used in the bombings had special plates indicating it had come from the Israeli border at Taba on the Sinai peninsula....."

at the bottom we get:
"Meanwhile, news agencies reported that Egyptian police are searching for six Pakistani citizens in connection with Sharm el-Sheikh bombings."

oh yea...arab muslim extremist groups have claimed credit.. obviously this is less important than making sure that israel gets the blame

I believe the proper terminology is yellow journalism...

it is really annoying and almost beyond strange.
Maybe you could think about asking for your thread to be removed as it isnt actually about what you thought it was (quite understandably mind you)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0391024/ <- al-jazeera behind the scenes documentary

"Tagline: Different channels. Different truths.

Plot Outline: A documentary on perception of the United States's war with Iraq, with an emphasis on Al Jazeera's coverage"

a positive history of the birth of the TV channel
http://www.richardsonmedia.co.uk/al%20jazeera%20origins.html

"Sunday, 21 April, 1996, is a date that will forever be burnt into my
memory and the memories of the 150 or so former staff of BBC Arabic
Television. It was the day that I killed off, at just over an hour's
notice, my baby: a television service launched with high hopes and, given
a fair wind, one that could have brought about sweeping changes in the
media in the Arab world - not just in the Middle East and North Africa,
but also in Europe and the US; indeed any country that had a substantial
Arab community.

But who could have forecast back then that out of the ashes of BBC Arabic
Television would rise Al-Jazeera? And who could have forecast that its
astonishing impact would reverberate not just around the Middle East but
across the Western world?"

14. seen it a couple of times,i found it quite moving
Especially if you only see the way the US government portrays Al-Jazeera as near terrorist and then you watch this and see well educated Arab's with posh english accents tell the story of their difficulties and triumphs.
And then you go and look back at the rest of the world media and think, gee thats weird,Al-Jazeera seemed more liberal and fair and balanced than many channels in so called democracies.
Al-Jazeera is NOT the Arab foxnews its much more like english tv.

19. The wrong thing to to do
Maybe you could think about asking for your thread to be removed as it isnt actually about what you thought it was (quite understandably mind you)
is absolutely the wrong thing to do. That helps the "imposter" and hurts the "real" Al-Jazeera

See my append #17 --

An actual showing of confusion - such as the post - would make the "real" Al-Jazeera's case easier to prove.

8. Yes. Al-jazeera.net = Al-jazeera TV news channel
This one;

Change of image for al-Jazeera TV

By Sebastian Usher
BBC world media correspondent

The Arab-language news channel, al-Jazeera, has been given a face-lift.

The station has won millions of viewers in the Arab world with its pioneering

and often taboo-busting news and current affairs programmes.

It has also been condemned by the US as a purveyor of anti-American propaganda - and it has faced bans in many Arab states for criticising the authorities.

In covering the past few years of conflict in Iraq, the Palestinian territories and Afghanistan, it has shown extremely violent and bloody images - which al-Jazeera editors say has been necessary in order to show what is really happening.

But now, its senior managers and editors say they want the channel to reflect a broader range of subjects."

9. You are kidding me right?
Al-jazeerah is the most respected arab news network in the world that was formed on the ashes of the arab bbc world service when that was wound down.
The problem is this
http://www.aljazeerah.com and .info US based conspiracy site.
http://english.aljazeera.net <- well respected TV channel

Its no wonder people never seem to hear many of the good things about aljazeera when they presume its that nutty site.

Excellent behind the scenes documentary about al-jazeerah TV

10. The difference...
"Important note: Aljazeera Publishing and Aljazeera.com are not associated with the controversial Arabic Satellite Channel known as Jazeera Space Channel TV station whose website is Aljazeera.net.

Aljazeera Publishing disassociates itself from the views, opinions and broadcasts of Jazeera Space Channel TV station."

12. odd that a borderline anti-semitic site calls the channel controversial
that puts a new twist on things for me.
The wacky conspiracy site disassociates itself from the respected TV channel, while stealing its name and making the channel look bad.
Lovely logic, but then the site is American as far as i can tell and maybe Al-Jazeera prefers that to the usual bombings of it offices and killing of its reporters in warzones.

22. The way to stop
the fake from trespassing on the real Al-Jazeera's good name, and diminishing the real Al-Jazeera's reputation is to get injunctive relief.
