Lou Dobbs calls for new 9/11 investigation.

DOBBS: Incompetence and ineptitude on the part of this government on September 11th and in the weeks and months leading up to it are established. The fact that the government would permit deception after a deception, whether honestly, if you can call it that, honestly intended or not. But the fact that they were continue and perpetuate the lie, suggests that we need a full investigation of what is going on and what is demonstrably an incompetent and at worst deceitful federal government.

5. I do too!
He was very vocal about exporting jobs - and, he was one of the few voices who spoke out about that practice.

I hope he goes with this. I would love to see an on-going segment about the lies of 9/11 on his show.

10. I'd like to see that too. We should all write to him and
encourage him. He's a rare voice of common sense & it's wonderfully refreshing how he resonates with ordinary Americans. I am liking him more & more everyday, have grown to respect him greatly.

13. Good idea
I wrote him often when he was doing the "Exporting America" segments. I plan on doing so again to encourage him to further investigate this issue.

They're demonstrably deceitful, as well. Let's see if Lou keeps on this like he does he does with outsourcing.

11. Yeah, the incompetence meme doesn't help
because it insinuates that everything that has happened has been a big accident due to inept bungling, rather than a coldly calculated, decades-long plot by right wing zealots.
How can people who let something like 911 happen from incompetence so artfully cover up and benefit from this act.

14. He's also implying that there may be some deceit involved
That is a step forward, IMHO, as that implication says to me that he is questioning the possibly deliberate lies told after the fact.

16. It seems that
Edited on Fri Aug-11-06 01:30 PM by greyl
some people form their opinions by taking the opposite position of somebody who they've previously demonized, rather than on supported reasoning.
If I said Arun Gandhi was a nice guy, I wouldn't be surprised if they argued the point just to be disagreeable.

17. What happened when the CIA leak was "investigated"?
Edited on Fri Aug-11-06 05:52 PM by mirandapriestly
Scooter gets charged with obstruction of justice/perjury and the main issue -the crime of exposing a CIA agent for political gain and all the damage that inflicted, plus the peripheral crimes were not really addressed. I think he is talking about the same thing, he is not talking about actually investigating 9-11 with an outside/independent investigation. If he were to say/mean that it would be wonderful. If they just investigated the lying, then it would serves as "case closed" and never really address the real issues as we saw with the Fitzgerald investigation. That is my concern.

edited to add: This is an analogy

18. It's remarkable that he is questioning gov't activities on 9-11
so I agree it is a huge step forward. Even a year ago, no one would have said this without being called a "traitor". Hopefully, people will hear that from him and look into it, because I doubt most of his viewers were even aware of the contradictory statements.
From previous experience, I'm wary...I'll try positive thinking, I've been so disappointed before. The letdown from the Plame investigation and the full recounts that never happened.
I hope you don't think I am dissing your post.

22. No, not at all
I understand your concerns, and, like you, I was very disappointed with the Plame investigation (although, I don't think it is over yet).

You could very well be right that this will come to nothing, but, I am hopeful that he will continue to ask questions.

I guess we just have to wait and see.

20. I too wouldn't mind seeing just how much ...
... was covered up in an attempt to CTA (Cover Their *sses) after the fact. CT'ers, however, shouldn't get their hopes up:

"...says Americans still don't know the whole truth about their government's initial response to those terrorist attacks that day."

Note: the book that is the impetus to Dobb's call is that we don't know about the "...initial response to those terrorist attacks that day." Key words: TERRORIST ATTACKS.

"...Kean and Hamilton say all the inaccuracies have fueled conspiracy theorists... And really troubling, the Department of Defense's own inspector general report that was declassified showed that if the same thing happened again, you'd have the same chaos and the same misreporting or lies afterward."

I'm reading this in that:
A. They were caught with their pants down (and lied to cover it up)
and
B. They haven't corrected the problem.

21. Sometimes there's weasel language.
Since the attacks were by definition "terrorist attacks" the
assumption that they are necessarily referring to Muslim
hijackers is not justified. Even if it was orchestrated by
our government, 9/11 was a terrorist attack.

The NIST report in concluding "there is no evidence for explosives
planted before 9/11/01" seems to suggest that there might be
evidence for explosives planted after 12:01 a.m. the morning of
9/11.

There is similar weasel language from one of the official
statements about the Pentagon attacks too. I've forgotten
what it was about. A commentator suggested that it gave the
speaker an out--if the truth ever did emerge, he could say "Well
I didn't actually lie, did I?"

Basically this Admnistration operates at the level of child
psychology. People who think it's clever to cross their fingers
behind their backs.

Or, if you use a little (apparently not-so) common senese, it might mean that there's no evidence explosives were used prior to the ATTACKS of 9/11/01.

24. "there is no evidence for explosives planted before 9-11'..
I never noticed that, it didn't say there is no evidence of explosives, just that there was no evidence they were pre planted..interesting.
