9/11 conspiracy film producer in NY drug arrest
A producer of a documentary alleging conspiracy theories behind the September 11 terrorist attacks has been arrested on drug charges in upstate New York.

Oneonta police tell the Daily Star of Oneonta that 27-year-old Korey Rowe and a 19-year-old Bronx man were arrested after selling packets of heroin to an undercover officer.

Rowe was arraigned last Friday on a felony count of criminal sale of a controlled substance. Authorities say the Oneonta resident was released from Otsego County Jail after posting $10,000 cash bail.

It couldn't be determined if he had a lawyer. Rowe's phone number was unlisted.

An Army veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, Rowe was a producer of "Loose Change," a 2006 film that challenged the official explanation of the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

8. I'll withhold any judgement until he is found guilty
Having said that, I'll pre-empt the conspiracy theories by stating that "they" have had numerous opportunities to get rid of Avery, Bermas & Rowe for the past 5 years, so choosing this as their method seems a bit slacking. Especially when "they" were apparently able to conduct the 9/11 inside jobby-job flawlessly and without anyone spilling the beans.

Could the herion have come from the poppy fields we are said to be protecting in Afghanistan?

And if they did set him up it could be they are getting a little too close, eh?

13. Because it's WKTV copying and pasting an AP blurb based on an article from The Daily Star
WKTV is always lazy like that. Here's The Daily Star article:
January 29, 2011
'Loose Change' filmmaker charged with heroin sale
Staff Report

ONEONTA -- "Loose Change" filmmaker Korey H. Rowe, 27, of Oneonta, was one of two people arrested in Oneonta on Thursday and charged with sale of heroin, Oneonta police said.

Rowe and Daniel Marte Jr., 19, of the Bronx, were arrested after the two allegedly sold seven packets of heroin in the city to an undercover police officer, police said.

Both men were charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, police said. Marte was also charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said. Both charges are Class B felonies punishable by up to nine years in prison, police said.

17. Not many
These stats are a few years old, and I'm pulling them from memory, but about 1.5% report using heroin in their lifetime, while only about 0.1% report using heroin within the last month.

18. Russia has over 2%
If Zoya is anything to go by, today's Russians are hardly flourishing. Russia has one of the world's biggest heroin problems, with up to three million addicts according to local non-governmental organizations. Twenty one percent of the 375 tons of heroin produced from Afghanistan's opium fields now finds its way through central Asia into Russia, according the United Nations. (By contrast, China, with nine times more people, consumes just 13 percent.) The Russian government estimates its citizens bought $17 billion worth of street-traded heroin last year -- about seven billion doses. The addiction kills at least 30,000 Russians a year, which is a third of the world's total heroin-related deaths, adding to pressures on the country's already shrinking population.

So grave is the problem that President Dmitry Medvedev last year branded heroin a threat to national security.

Don't recall you posting this back in the day....

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/19/nyregion/19kerik.html?_r=1

The case against Mr. Kerik centered on charges that a New Jersey construction company, the Interstate Industrial Corporation, which was suspected of ties to organized crime, had paid for renovations at his home in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. Prosecutors said company officials had hoped Mr. Kerik would help them obtain a city license.
