I was sedated, but my wife, who was there, told me that when they viewed the cells under a microscope the doctors started crying because it turned out to be a very rare form of pancreatic cancer that is curable with surgery.

Consider two possible reasons that the doctors started crying:

1. They were hoping to treat the cancer for a long time, and receive money while treating the patient. Once they realized that a cure was possible, they had a strong awareness that the cash cow in their hands would soon simply get up and walk away.

2. They considered Steve Jobs to be a fellow one-percenter. They were emotionally overwhelmed by the good news that Steve Jobs would continue to play a role in the class role against their common enemy: the other 99% of the population.

The quote at the beginning of the body of this message can be found within its larger context here:
Steve Jobs: "Death is very likely the single best invention of Life."

Please note that I'm not a newbie on these kinds of issues. I have commented in the past on the signficance of tears. For example, see this:
Shame On Barack Obama For Completing His Inauguration

3. Umm, neither of your reasons make sense.
First of all, when you get diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, usually, you have less than 3 months to live. There's no cash cow because there's nothing to be done usually except to maintain pain control and keep you comfortable while waiting for the inevitable.

The fact that they didn't have to give him a death sentence when they probably expected to hand one out makes more sense than either of your reasons for them to cry and your reason #1? Having a treatable form of this cancer is the cash cow version so you've got it backwards.

Jobs had:
1) A Whipple procedure, look it up, it has nothing to do with Charmin.
2) Liver transplant.
3) Numerous tests and other procedures we don't know about.

Can the conspiracy theories wait until a decent time after his death?

One-percenters, WTH??? Lets hear more about these guys, I hope a 26 character alphabet and 10 number plus zero counting system is enough to describe this group. Do go on...

4. "10 number plus zero counting system"
I use the numerals from one to nine, along with zero. In other words, ten numerals in total, not ten plus a numeral for zero.

What do you use?
