I need help with Fahrenheit 9/11
Edited on Tue Mar-01-05 10:44 PM by paulthompson
Hi,
I have a favor to ask. Does anyone have a copy of the Fahrenheit 9/11 DVD with the extra bonus materials, and if so, can you take screenshots from that? I was looking for a picture of bin Laden's brother, Khalil bin Laden, and I found a tiny one on the web that comes from that movie, and it's captioned that he's at an Orlando airport, about to take off in the days just after 9/11. This is important because of some ties between Khalil and terrorism. The only problem is, I've got a copy of the movie without the bonus materials, and that isn't in there. So I'm thinking there must be more about the Saudi flights in the bonus stuff. I'm really curious what's in there, and if there's anything worthy including for my timeline.

Here's the pic:

1. That picture is from a short clip in the preview for the movie.
The clip is only two or three seconds long - it starts about 0:29 seconds into the theatrical preview on the DVD.

There doesn't seem to be any extra information about the Saudi flights in the bonus footage on the DVD.

My screen capture software doesn't work for DVD images, but the picture you posted is all there is to see. The clip just shows him moving his arm and head slightly for a few seconds from the same camera angle.

Unfortunately, nothing of use to you.

2. Thanks!
So you're saying that clip is from a PREVIEW of the movie only, and not actually in the movie or in any bonus features? Are you sure? That seems really odd. I've never heard of that - a preview is supposed to be scenes of what you'll be seeing in the movie! But it's good to know.

Is there any good stuff in the bonus features?

3. Actually, a lot of time movie trailers use scenes that don't make it into
the final cut of the movie. The previews are like an art to themselves, as obnoxious as they can be sometimes.

4. Trailer
Thanks to Make7's tip I just downloaded the trailer and it did have Khalil bin Laden in it, but it didn't have the caption of the above picture, so I still think there must be more about him lurking somewhere else. But at least I got that.

If one goes the the Internet Movie Database or something like that, he actually gets fourth or fifth highest actor billing, which is weird for a movie in which he only appears in the trailer! :)

5. co-star?
Maybe he'll get nominated for an Oscar!

Timothy Bottoms can present it to him.

The preview that's on the DVD has the caption just as it appears in the photo you posted. And that section of the preview is also the only thing in the bonus material that has any reference to the post-911 Saudi flights that I remember seeing.

Here is what is on the rest of the DVD:

  • PREVIEWS
    • Fahrenheit 9/11
    • Super Size Me
    • The Fog of War
    • ... and a few more

  • NEW SCENES
    • People of Iraq on Eve of Invasion
    • Homeland Security, Miami Style
    • Outside Abu Ghraib Prison
    • More from Abdul Henderson
    • Arab-American Comedians
    • Condoleezza Rice: "I Asked You What the Title Was"
    • Bush Ater His "Visit" with the 9/11 Commission

  • CONFIDENTIAL
    • Release of Fahrenheit 9/11
    • Eyewitness Account from Samarra, Iraq
    • Lila Lipscomb at Washington, D.C. Premiere

Some of it's good - Bush making a statement off the cuff is always an amusing thing to watch, and the one on the DVD is a classic. The Eyewitness Account from Samarra, Iraq is interesting and informative, but I don't think the information you seek is on the DVD.
