I just remembered two incidents before 9/11 that have taken on a more
Edited on Sat Apr-02-05 04:30 PM by KlatooBNikto
a more ominous meaning for me. The first was the inexplicable plunging of an Egyptair flight from NYC in the middle of the night in the Atlantic ocean. No one has convincingly given an explanation of why an experienced pilot would intentionally plunge his craft into the ocean.

The second was Swissair Flight 800 that exploded upon take off again, over the shore off Long Island. The explanation given was that a spark ignited the fuel tank. The real life cases of this happening in the millions of miles flown before had been so negligible, it was amazing that it was even considered a factor. There were also sightings by sail boaters that what looked like a streaking missile hit the plane and it was debunked right from the start.

That these incidents happened before 9/11 and one of them bears a remarkable resemblance to the downing of the plane over Pennsylvania makes me very suspicious indeed.

Any opinions or new facts on these?

1. Was one of those the flight where the pilot was talking about Allah?
I seem to have a vague recollection of something like that.

2. Yes. But it was made clear that the same pilot was very experienced and
was very highly regarded.

and forced the plane down.

The flight that went down off LI has long been the object of controversy..even though we have not heard about it in along time. There were some who said they saw indications that missiles had been fired at it. There was talk that it may have been "friendly fire". Some kind of "practice" maneuver of US troops that went way off target and hit the commercial plane instead of some fake military target.

EDIT: oops forgot the tinfoil hat :tinfoilhat:

10. Yes, I am pretty sure the Egypt Air one was attributed to the pilot
being instable.

suspicious in my opinion.

9. Flight 587 was a "tail failure."
The NTSB said so. And tails fall off of airplanes all the time.

16. More likely is a shoulder missile or a bomb in the luggage.
But the stock market was fragile at that point, and I'm sure nobody wanted to spook Wall Street. Why give the terrorists a victory?

You kinda have to wonder about the exploding refineries and chemical plants. Chances are more attacks have taken place than we are aware of.

6. My cousin was fishing the day of Flight 800
and most definitely saw a streak of light heading up toward the very distant plane. He was horrifed to watch an explosion and debris raining down. He was so shocked by the sight that he went into a depression, which he had a hard time crawling out of. I think his depression was rooted in his internal conflict between the horror that he saw and the public story about it. I found him thoroughly convincing.

I also remember the Egyptair crash. I recall that the pilot issued prayers to Allah before purposely turning the nose down. I remember at the time his behavior was attributed to depression. In retrospect, it certainly has resonance with 9-11.

13. I'm not trying to flame you or anything but the Swissair flight
went down in Canadian waters not over Long Island. I think you're mixing it up with the TWA flight that went down in July of 1996.

Either Nova or Frontline just did a show on the Swissair flight and the Canadian equivalent of the NTSB proved that the cause of the crash was a fire in the attic above the passenger section of the plane that was caused by electrical arcing from worn wiring.

15. If by "suspicious" you mean "possibly related to 9/11", I'd disagree.
It would make no sense for the parties responsible for 9/11 to perform similar deeds prior to 9/11. Doing so would have put their plans for 9/11 at risk by drawing attention to security (or lack thereof), increasing awareness in the airline industry, etc.

They wanted us completely unprepared and unaware. That's what they got.

18. The Egyptair flight was explained
One of the pilots was suicidal, and took everyone with him. He turned out to have terrible family problems, debts, was just, in general, all fucked up. He locked the rest of the crew out of the cockpit, and the voice recorder had his shouts on it as he took them down.

That was the final page. He killed himself and everyone else. The Egyptian government refused to accept the explanation because of the terrible stigma against suicide in that country.

Did all the crashes dismissed as "accidents" all happen on Clinton's watch? Were they baiting Clinton and he, each time, refused to take the bait?

brought down by a missile. A military accident, most likely.

22. consider KAL 007 too...
after all, reagan (iow bushinc) used the disaster to massively increase military spending, w/out opposition by the democrats....US nuke forces put on 'red' alert, ist time since Cuba in '62...A modern 747 with KAL's best pilot at controls amazingly flies for hours over 300 miles off course into most deadly airspace on earth (the USSR missile testing area over Kamchatka)..no one notices, or tells KAL 007..not Japan ATC, not Alaska ATC and not even the RUSSIANS themselves! (this escaped notice by entire media at the time...the russians always warned aircraft off, but not that time) Somehow, the airliner had flown right into nogo area....and the soviets shot it down after the KAL pilots refused to(??)..well no one really knows what happened....The KAL 007 event dominated world news for about 2 weeks in 1983 (7 years before USSR would collapse like a house of cards)...the nazipoos went, predictably, nuts! Reagan called USSR the 'Evil Empire' and congress gave him everything he wanted, military spending wise...seymore hersh wrote a book quicklike that said the US was playing some kinda wargame coincidentally when poor old KAL 007 just drifted 300 miles off course yada yada yada...btw Jesse Helms was supposed to be on KAL 007 (another wingnut named Mcdonald was on it, shades of barb olsen) but 'missed' the flight for some reason....KAL 007 was the 2nd KAL airliner to stray into Russian nogo airspace; the earlier plane barely survived the missile which only partly exploded ....KAL was/is owned by the Korean CIA....
the 20th aniversary happened in the fall of 2003 w/out barely any mention by the MSN....that says they figger it easier not to draw too much attention to what looks like a test run for selling some snakeoil to schoolkids ( say, 911)
It's almost certain (no evidence but Occam's razor) that KAL 007 was electronically hijacked, and under the control of 'Global Hawk'(?)for hours after it began straying....it's freaky to think that the crew and people on KAL 007 might have been trying to override 'global hawk' and radio ATC desperately for hours...unless they were gassed or Payne stewart'ed somehow...the real wonder is that the media somehow sold the thing, and now the media has made forgetting KAL 007 easy...too easy.

24. Maybe you actually should read his book!
I find it hilarious that a CTer would try to use Seymore Hersh's book on KAL 007 (The Target is Destroyed I believe) to back a position that he rejected (he actually wrote that the incident was a tragic accident resulting from the intense animosity between the US and USSR at that time.)

Correction: it isn't hilarious - it's actually sick! :puke:

25. that's ridiculous....
are you saying the KAL 007 pilot committed suicide, with all those people? The hersh book exxonerated the reagan/busheviks by implying it was just 'boys being boys', 2 gangs fighting and maybe going too far etc...a tragic accident and nothing to see here!....WEll! did reagan get his military spending bill (to oppose reagan would be political suicide, the pundits said at the time) was passed independent of, in disregrard of kAL 007? Why did hersh feel need to publish a book that in effect greased the reagan/bush effort to explain how a modern jet, flown by top flight pilots, just accidentally stray into nogo airspace, just at the very time the US was 'testing' soviet radar defenses? It was hersh's explanation that forced the peculiarities off the news....by claiming it was all a 'tragic accident' Well, it wasn't....it was murder, not by the russians (who might not have even seen the intruder, lies by bushinc notwithstanding) but by the same buncha pigs who later on (giggling fukks) finessed the horseshit we call 911; which ITSELF helped bushinc steal the US presidency (911 postponed the publication of the NORC results, which prove in hard numbers that bush lost 2000 election, regardless of counting tricks)...btw the flight 587 crash occured the day the NORC results were finally published...within a few minutes it was proclaimed a 'tragic accident' by bushit media...how conveeenient eh! Wouldn't wanna wreck the airline industry, would they...or bring too much attention to 911 itself and thus stateside terror (the attention had already shifted to afghanistan)
btw what's a 'CT'?

26. They think the Egypt one was a suicide of the pilot. He was being
accused of sexual harrasment and I think that playing into it. From what I remember. The other they found no evidence of explosives.

Hard for the families of both to move on. Good if we do not try and lump them all together with bin Laden's 9/11.
