ITS WILL INSTALL SPYWARE/ADWARE/VIRUSES ON YOUR COMPUTER.

IF YOU DID GO TO THAT SITE
THEN LOOK FOR THESE FOLDERS IN C:\Program Files
BullsEyeNetwork
Web_Rebates
Internet Optimizer
Windows SyncroAd

Deinstall these programs and/or delete the folders.

10. I use Mozilla Firefox
I hit that site earlier and I'm clean.

But I just wanted to add, if you got that you need to do more than just delete those files. You need to run a spyware removal scan like AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy. As well, have Spyblaster - it along with the immunization tool in Spybot will prevent a great deal of well-known spyware from ever even being installed in the first place.

And don't use IE.

Also, thanks for the alert to the MS users. I have cleaned my share of systems and I know its no fun.

15. is it likely a hacker did it???
I went there earlier and no problem. I checked my c-drive, and those programs are not there. Is this something norton's internet security would catch?? I am curious as to why the person that set up the site would do that over time, instead of immediately...Kevin.

33. Yes, it would be something Norton would catch if you've kept current
Also I suspect that what gets displayed varies from visit to visit as what pops up are several (usually adult) ads.

When I was there (Linux/Firefox, so it was more of an annoyance with the pop ups than a threat). However there is malware which installs itself using known MS Internet Explorer exploits (that have been around for years - Several are from MS's insistance to not update their JVM) just through visiting the site.

Definitely do NOT install anything offered from that site.

23. No need to worry-- Netscape is built on Mozilla
Netscape's code is basically Mozilla repackaged. You should be okay, but you may want to run AdAware just in case.

22. Alternatives are the Way to Go
It is so nice to see non-Micro$oft people here. I am so sick of the Bilk Gates worshippers elsewhere. Their vicarious living through him is just laughable.
I found this nice site for ALTERNATIVES to MS a while ago.

<http://www.microsuck.com> Hope you will enjoy the humor and useful info.

25. I got a popup
asking me if I wanted to install software. In the company spot it said "click yes to continue" or something like that. I said no ('cause that seemed hinky) and got outta there. Praise the diety of your choice for Norton Internet Security. If you can't switch to something other that Bill G's Software and Live Bait it's vital, IMO. No matter what internets you're on. :)
