Debate as a draw?

I have seen several posts suggesting that the debate was a draw because Kerry didn't pounce on Shrub, or it was a draw because the Shrub didn't look like he was missing a chromosome this go around. With lowered expectations, Shrub did a bang-up job! That is not saying much at all!! I know 12 year olds that are better behaved and speak in more complete sentences. Shrub is the king of low expectations, this is no different. Kerry, on the other hand, would have had to actually waved his hand and magically removed all troops from Iraq to "win" in the eyes of pundits. The standards were not the same, therefore, many are calling this a draw. It was not a draw, but it was not a "clear" win for Kerry in the eyes of the simple-minded.

I have noticed that Kerry is, in fact, a strong closer. He steps up his attacks each time. Kerry has yet to lose his cool! He has not reacted emotionally reckless, even with the ad hominem (sp?) attacks. He smiles and nods, then politely corrects and adds what he would do. Shrub gets defensive and spends his whole 2 minutes (1.5 mins)attacking Kerry and saying nothing about his own policies.

Perhaps, the strategy is to make Shrub and his cronies think they have a win because he didn't drool on himself this debate. Shrub will enter the next debate (unless it is the "October surprise" to miss it) thinking he is free and clear. Then, Kerry will attack Shrub in such a way that the little freak will break down! He will not only talk over the moderator, he will get overly emotional and look like the idiot, we in the know, know that he is! Kerry will be able to continue to look rational and the Shrub will look like a raving lunatic. By that time, there will be little the campaign can do to turn it around.

If Bush wasn't a total idiot then the spinmaster would be out of a job. But, come November 2nd the whole Bush administration will be out of job.

was b/c he did better than florida. I'm getting really sick of this "I'm doing my best" kerry needs to stand up and say "Mr. President, we're not in elementary school, your best doesn't mean you pass anymore. Your best isn't good enough for America, Americans deserve BETTER"

Kerry missed a HUGE knock out opportunity when Bush was talking about "We need well paid troops" had kerry come at him with the "Well paid troops? Mr. President you tried to cut troops combat pay WHILE they were in Iraq"

:toast: I thought Bush sucked in both performances, but he sucked worse in Florida. That's purely from a debating standpoint. When you consider the messages of both the candidates, Kerry won by even a wider margin.

I wasn't saying I thought the debate was a draw, I was commenting on those on DU and other places who felt it was a draw. I, personally, felt Kerry won. Not a complete KO, but he preformed well!

The only people who matter now are the still cemented into twilight zone undecideds. And starting tomorrow, you will see 90% of them lining up for Kerry.

Trust me. The end is near. And now I will go.

I do agree with your analysis that Kerry won. It's hard to fathom why anyone would vote for Dubya. Maybe it's the pollution or something in the water.

I guess I wrote my original thought because I was so sick of hearing from the "pundits" that think this debate was a draw. It wasn't!

As why they vote for the Shrub, it's all that clean air he provides! HA!

That means in the real world, * got owned again. Like you said - low expectations:

or Bush* won, virtually no one thought it a TIE . There were polls in just about every paper across the nation and no one thought it a tie. Kerry seemed to be the winner in the great majority although there were a few spots where Bush* was leading by a small margin. Only the Pundits who are afraid to go out on a limb say it was a Tie.

But every part I did see with bush, was with him strutting up and down, looking like his usual ignorant self. I don't care if he was able to string together a sentence without stuttering. Or if he was able to make an actual debate point. That's what debates are for. He continues to be an embarrassment and a disgrace to our country, and his juvenile performances are beyond belief for a president of the United States. I actually saw more of the debate with bush in it then Kerry, but what I saw of Senator Kerry was him being cool and professional--very much the statesman.
