Last night on Bill Mahers show he had Frank Rich on from the NYT. Last Sunday, Rich wrote a piece called: "The Passion of the Bush" which laid out how this President uses religion and faith to distort his reality.
He's talking about a new DVD available now called:
George W. Bush - Faith in the White House
The DVD cover claims:
"See how the power of faith can change a life, build a family and shape the destiny of a nation".
Oh yeah, now THAT'S freakin' rich. Faith built the BFEE? Give me a break.
The glowing editorial review states that:
No sitting president since Abraham Lincoln has talked as much about God as George W. Bush, and none has so boldly, publicly, and genuinely lived out his faith on the job. As the leader of the free world, Bush bears an enormous responsibility, and its weight drives him to his knees…in prayer and supplication.
Says BBC correspondent Justin Webb, "Nobody spends more time on his knees than George W. Bush. The Bush administration hums to the sound of prayer. Prayer meetings take place day and night. It’s not uncommon to see White House functionaries hurrying down corridors carrying Bibles."
This powerful program is a unique insider’s look at how one man’s dedication to prayer and the daily application of God’s word transformed his life and leadership. His dependence upon God gave him the clarity of vision and quiet confidence needed to lead us through the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the ensuing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Witness President Bush’s remarkable journey of faith, and decide for yourself whether it has been good for America. But whatever you decide, it will change and inspire you!
DVD: Extra Bonus Features for Further Enjoyment and Study
NOW THIS IS SCARY SHIT!
Rich says that the movie is SO over the top.
Portraying young Bush as a comfort to his mother when he lost a sibling.
Showing young Bush resist the advances of a young woman while they were working in an office together.
Showing a split-screen shot of Bush and JESUS standing side by side.
Bathing Bush in the glowing light of the "higher power" as he guides the country steadily.
They are billing this as an "alternative" to Fahrenheit 9/11.
Yeah right...we need to be all over this.
Why?
This is why:
"It’s not uncommon to see White House functionaries hurrying down corridors carrying Bibles."
I know it's bullshit, but that they are saying it to be true is a matter of concern.
