My Republican mother's advice for Kerry
(She's a RINO and thinks Bush is the worst
pResident in history)

I know, advice from mothers, but I agreed with
her on these...

Kerry needs to talk about terrorism...how
after 9/11 it became EVEN MORE IMPORTANT
to work with the whole world in sharing intelligence
(setting up one computer system to record all
goings on of known terrorists etc.) That means
actually sitting down at the table with allies coming
up with plans, not acting unilaterally.
Bush has made Kerry defend this position and
it shouldn't have to be.

Also Senator, don't say you have a plan all the time
and refer people to your website...the debates
may be the only place someone makes the effort
to see and hear you....make your points short,
clear and easy to understand. We all know that
real thinking and planning includes nuances, but
for an election get to the points in short order.

Bush has a four year record and doesn't want to run on it.

I know you have a plan covering almost everything
but I'm a political junkie....McDebate it for
those who just have their own hopes and fears.

Clear up the $87 billion...it just gets in the way.

1. That's good advice
I've been a little annoyed that both Kerry and Edwards keep saying "I have a plan/we have a plan", but then don't elaborate. Not everyone is going to make the effort to go check them out. The vast majority of this country is too lazy to do that. They believe what they hear on TV, so say it on TV.

3. Great point about the $87 billion issue.
If Kerry's people can somehow clear this up in a sound bite size, it could have positive ramifications.

6. I don't think a true sound bite would explain it right, but easily done in
30 seconds. He did a bit better this last debate, towards the end, but still used about 10 seconds or so to say "I made a mistake TALKING about the votes in this way, but Bush made a worse mistake going into Iraq". Then proceeded to explain why he voted as he did, but had less time.

8. Here's a simple clear response to that....
Sure I supported the funding, but there were more than one bills debated. I supported the one without $20 billion of wasteful spending in it. If you want a mixed message, look at what my opponent said about the $87 billion--he THREATENED TO VETO THE $87 BILLION if it didn't include all that waste! And need I remind my opponent that the $87 billion bill was passed, the funding was given, and my opponent still was not able to get the body armor to the troops. Mr President, it is easy to make snarling campaign rhetoric in the weeks before an election, but you were given the money when it counted, why didn't you get the job done?"

4. Intelligent and insightful. Tell her we approve!
Saying the word 'plan' too much is equal to the possibly excessive use of 'lockbox' (Gore was as absolutely correct as our poor economic condition reflects - everyone should have listened and understood. But no, the not so supreme court dropped us into an economic pit.)
