"I can do what I want, I'm the President ..."
I was talking about the election with my mom (a Republican for Kerry!) and she wondered why the Kerry campaign hadn't used footage of Bush saying "I can do what I want! I'm the President of the United States!" or something to that effect. She saw footage of him saying that on a newscast one time, and it really upset her. She said Bush was very smug and arrogant when he said it. Does anybody know if this footage is available somewhere?

1. Good idea - I also wonder why they don't use the disgusting footage of...
* looking under the table for the missing WMDs and making a bad joke out of the loss of over 1000 Americans in a war that did not have to be fought. I really think that the current misadministration has served up such a huge dish of stuff to use that it has been overwhelming to know exactly how to make best use of it!

2. Is this it? "I do not need to explain why I say things. .."
Woodward says the president told him that when he chairs a meeting he often tries to be provocative. When Woodward asked him if he tells his staff that he is purposely being provocative, Mr. Bush answered: "Of course not. I am the commander, see?"

President Bush: "I do not need to explain why I say things. — That's the interesting thing about being the President. — Maybe somebody needs to explain to me why they say something, but I don't feel like I owe anybody an explanation."

5. Hearing him say that made me want to grab him by the ear
lead him to his room and make him sit in time out for the afternoon.

3. Timing is everything.
I keep hoping that the Kerry campaign and the DNC has all kinds of plans for ads in the last few weeks. There's certainly enough ammunition available!

4. The chimp who would be king
It begins with the annointed leader believing he or she really is the personna they
pretend to be. Its just a short transition from Louis XIV to Louis the XVI - or Tsar Nicholas II.
