BEfore the next debate, the Kerry campaign needs to talk to Mike Byron
Mike Byron has accumulated information on how the military and military families are being treated by the govenrment in Oceanside. A housing inspector (who had worked at his job for 18 years and who was himself a veteran)found that the base housing was extremely moldy and rat-infested. Mike has pictures. After reporting this to Republican Congressman Darrell Issa, the housing inspector was fired. Nearby, at El Toro, there is excellent closed-down base housing. However, Republican representatives are selling this to ladnd speculators and it appears that Issa will profit from the sale. One of the base housing units has been torn down and families are using up their savings to afford housing in town. Two moldy units are still up. Children, marines and spouses of marines are getting sick there. A well-phrased reference to this mistreatment at home of our military and their families would make the Bush administration look like its profitting off the woes of our servicemen.
