WTF is with the new Bush/Cheney star campaign logo?

I mean, honestly, why are they deliberately evoking images of a sheriff's badge?

I saw someone wearing this button a few days ago, and I honestly thought it was a subtle SLAP at Bushco, and it's "old west" approach to, well, EVERYTHING. So, I told the guy that I liked his joke. Needless to say, the result was a HUGE argument which almost got us both kicked out of the Barnes & Noble.

But really, wtf is with the star logo?
