"Stolen Honor" airs Saturday, October 23.
Edited on Tue Oct-12-04 11:31 AM by NightOwwl
Called the local affiliate in Sacramento, KOVR 13 (916-374-1313). I was immediately asked if my call was regarding "Stolen Honor", which tells me they are getting swamped with calls.

I asked to speak to the program director and was told "She's not taking calls. All calls must be directed to the parent company." Something about that doesn't sit right. Don't we own the airwaves? Doesn't she have to take calls?

Anyway, the receptionist told me "Stolen Honor" WILL be airing on Saturday, October 23 at 7:00pm. For some reason, KOVR airs shows one hour early, so most affiliates will be showing it at 8:00pm.

Kinda makes this statement from the sinclair website out to be a total lie: "The program has not been videotaped and the exact format of this unscripted event has not been finalized. Characterizations regarding the content are premature and are based on ill-informed sources." link: http://www.sbgi.net/

So what now? Is boycotting advertisers the most effective way of getting our message across?

4. Is that affliate a Fox station?
They will suffer the most because the World Series is going to be around that time and if Sinclair decides to interrupt that, they're in deep trouble, not only from viewers, but most likely from Fox and MLB as well. Now that'd be justice. Boycotts, emails, phone calls, letters, just an all-out blitz against Sinclair is what we must do.

5. HERE IS WHAT TO DO:
first, watch the station and make a list of all of the local advertisers.

Then, write to the sales manager -- not the general manager, but the sales manager -- and tell him that you're going to contact all of the local advertisers to register a protest about the station airing this program. Be specific -- mention the names of those local advertisers.

Then, actually contact them (if you write or email, cc the sales manager). These stations make most of their income (around 60%) from local advertisers and will NOT want to have that income threatened.

6. Remember the World Series Game One starts that night on Fox...
at 8p.m. EST.

Lots of Fox affiliates in that Sinclair Bunch.

What if everyone emailed Fox and told them and their advertisers that we were boycotting the World Series--it's on the radio, after all?

Hit Sinclair and Fox at once.

8. Boycott All companies that advertise:
On all Sinclair programs, not just this one. Don't buy a product from any company that advertises on Sinclair. Call the following: Domino's, Coca Cola, Pepsi, GM, Ford, Honda, Toyota, the American Bar Association, McDonald's, Overstock.com, etc.--big advertisers on local stations and tell them you run ads on Sinclair, we don't purchase from you. That'll hurt Sinclair.

14. Advocating terrorism?
I assume you are kidding and are not actually advocating domestic terrorism.

Complaining to stations, networks, and advertisers is appropriate. Boycotting advertisers might be appropriate. Intentionally knocking the power out is criminal.

22. A distributed DoS on the power grid...
...would require a conspiracy on a massive scale - more than a bunch of FReepers nuking a website by refreshing a series of open browser windows. Lots more. It's in the realm of bad science fiction.

11. Lies, lies and more lies
Edited on Tue Oct-12-04 11:55 AM by lukasahero
a) the video is available for purchase and for on-line viewing right now. Am I just being thick or doesn't that mean it has been videotaped?

b) According to Hardball on 9/10/04 "today in Washington, a group of former prisoners of war unveiled a documentary." See http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5962170/

c) Also according to Hardball "the former POWs and their filmmaker, whose documentary is only available over the Internet, have formed what is known as a 527, an organization that is collecting money to spread their message through campaign ads."

d) From the website where you can download the f'in film "was activated in late August, just prior to the debut of the film".

So, it's been "available" since 9/10/04, but it's not been "videotaped" yet? WTF? And if I can figure this out, why can't our frickin' liberal media?!?!?!?!?

Not to mention the whole 527 crap means it would be illegal for it to be run so close to the election.

EDITED TO ADD ANOTHER LIE: This group is now part of the SWIFT BOAT group according to it's own website here: "POWs Join Forces with Swift Boat Veterans" http://www.stolenhonor.com/news/view.asp?id=14&page=

WTF? Why isn't the liberal press reporting this crap and why is this being allowed to air?

Really great idea, guys. "Democrat supporters responsible for national blackout" - that would work wonders for our guy, wouldn't it?

Suggestion: try approaches which don't constitute terrorism.

23. They would
know it was the Democrats responsible if it had been discussed by the Democrats on their largest internet message board.

Just mentioning something like this makes us the first suspect if anything along these lines happens--even if we have nothing to do with it whatsoever.

So please DON'T suggest things like this--and if you decide to discuss it anyway--please DON'T do it here. Thanks.

according to an email forwarded to me by my son-in-law. That means it's going up against Law in Order and CSI. Who in the hell's going to watch it?

19. That is an interesting point....
Is there a possibility that some affiliates will 'protest' this ordered showing by picking a time slot that has popular shows on other networks?

25. I dont live anywhere near where it's showing, but...
I would think if NO ONE is watching, it would be a dismal failure. All those who live in those viewing areas should go on a massive campaign to make sure no one watches. What's it going to accomplish? Nothing really, I guess, but shit ratings.
