I've posted a lot about Gerow on a thread at
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1024263 which has now sunk off the first page, so I'd like to summarize it here.
The film, "Stolen Honor," was supposedly made by Carlton Sherwood's company, "Red, White, and Blue Productions." But as far as I can tell, this company has never made any other films and barely exists except on paper. The only address ever given for it is c/o Quantum Communications, a public relations firm in Harrisburg, PA. One of the two staff members of Quantum Communications, Charlie Gerow, is described as various places as both a spokesman for Red, White, and Blue Productions and a publicist for "Stolen Honor."
I'm coming to the conclusion that Sherwood himself is a dead end. Aside from have written one book whitewashing Rev. Moon back in 1991, he doesn't seem to have any other right-wing connections. Even his stint with the Office of Homeland Security in 2001-02 seems to have been brief and abortive. But Gerow has exactly the sort of connections that Sherwood lacks.
When Gerow ran in a Republican congressional primary in 1998, he received funding and/or support from Richard Mellon Scaife, Gary Bauer, Grover Norquist, and Ed Meese. A list of his contributors in the 2000 campaign includes some even more interesting names:
Lewis Lehrman -- longtime fixture on the right, board member of Heritage Foundation and American Enterprise Institute, chairman of a "grassroots" pro-Reagan lobbying group in the 1980's, and was even an investor in Bush's Arbusto Energy back in 1977.
Jack A. Abramoff -- Republican National Committee member, head of the pro-Reagan group that Lehrman chaired, whitewasher of the South African apartheid regime -- plus dubious connections to Indian casinos.
Frank A. Donatelli -- Republican activist, often associated with James Baker, assisted Baker in the 2000 Florida recount.
I haven't found a smoking gun tying Gerow directly to the current Bush operation -- he's kind of a small fish on his own and doesn't have obvious ongoing connections with any of the big names who supported him in 1998 or 2000. But I think there's paydirt there to be hit with a little more investigation.
