How is this dumbass our president?
I mean, seriously. If we are purported to have the greatest political system in the world, how is such a stupid lump of worthlessness sitting in the Oval Office? Shouldn't you have to achieve something in your life to ascend to the stature of the most powerful position in the world? Shouldn't people marvel at how much you've accomplished and how intelligent you are before you are even considered a candidate? Remember the days when you said that the greatest thing about this country is that anybody could grow up to president? Did we have to prove it by electing a silver spoon-licking moron who probably thinks you need to look up the zip code before reciting the Gettysburg Address? What does it say about our country that if brains were dynamite, our president couldn't blow his nose?

Sorry - just rhetorical questions. You don't have to answer. I just needed to rant.

The Mummy, Fat Tony, and Rastus for much of it. Um, that's a few Supreme Court Justices... guess who?

4. Corporate Media Consolidation
They've been selling Bush hard ever since he won re-election as TX governor in 1998. The first time that I even heard of him was during election night in 1998. Tweety was glowing about Bush back then, and the rest of the media has been hyping him ever since.

5. I question our democracy all the time!
I used to respect the President! Now I still have some respect for the "Office of the President" but not it's current occupant. Our democracy has been hijacked by a few very wealthy and powerful individuals, and the only way I know if to correct that is to arouse enough individuals to fight back! I'm no history major, but it sounds like something similar happened many years ago when a few owners of the railroads, car makers, amd power companies rulled the govt and the people. The people got upset enough to make a big change then, and we're going to have to do that again!

8. This is not a very smart country anymore
Edited on Tue Oct-12-04 04:07 PM by The_Casual_Observer
At one time, post WWII, it was a very smart country. It no longer is. The place has lost it's edge to Europe & Asia. Reactionary "I got mine" mentality has ruled for years. Where else in the civilized world are entertainers and sports figures heralded as gods? Where else in the world are people encouraged to buy assault weapons and monstrous "sport vehicles" as toys? Where else in the world is there a large segment of the population praying every Sunday for an apocalyptic end of the world as "salvation"? This country has de-evolved and it is getting worse.

9. It's quite simple really... he is the property of others. Bought and paid
for by corporate America. The last thing this country is anymore is a democracy.

10. Is it asking too goddamned much to at least expect mediocrity?
I have weird idea about the President being "the best and the brightest". Ok, maybe that might be a bit unrealistic. But someone who can understand policy...who can articulate it...who reads and is intellectually curious. Clinton sure had that...and our man John Kerry certainly has that.

But that worthless piece of shit we're saddled with right now...he's a fucking disgrace. An empty cipher who's a whore for the oil companies and the extra chromosome types who control the Republican Party. A mean spirited, arrogant, intellectually lazy asshole who can barely read the Teleprompter...let alone being articulate.

Natalie Maines sure had it right...Bush is an embarrassment.
