Here's what I tell them:
"Since Roe v Wade, the Republican Party has staked the claim that they're going to nominate Supreme Court justices who will strike-down the ruling. Since Roe, Republicans have been able to name 7 of the 9 sitting Supreme Court justices. And yet, despite these appointments, these Republican judges continue to prop-up Roe.
"If you were to actually read the US Constitution, you'd see that it says nothing about fetus' rights. Look-up the Fourteenth Amendment. It says that 'all persons born or naturalized' are entitled to rights under the law. It says nothing about 'all persons conceived..' A person isn't legally born until they get those Social Security numbers. Most judges that Republicans appoint get to the bench, look at the law (not their Bibles), and admit that they've got nothin'. Meanwhile, the Constitution explicitly guarantees the right to pursue happiness; so we can reasonably conclude that, as far as the text of the law goes, the mother definitely has more rights, seeing as how the fetus has none.
"Not that the Republican Party really minds, of coure. You know why? When Roe is struck-down, the Republicans lose a vital wedge issue. No longer will they be able to count on millions of brainless one-issue fundmentalist voters showing-up on election day. Add to that a loss of moderate female Republicans, and the party would see their power gone for at least a decade. So, in essance, you're being used. While you keep voting gullibly on faith, election after election, they're raping you economically. And then you wonder why things in this country aren't better. Hmmm.."
My great aunt, who is usually silent on political issues, was nodding and smiling at me at the end. And my fundie relatives were horrified, and with no real answers. 'Twas a good holiday.. :D
