Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome is a brain disorder involving loss of specific brain functions caused by a thiamine deficiency.

Causes, incidence, and risk factors:
The syndrome is actually a spectrum, including two separate sets of symptoms, one of which tends to start when the other subsides. In our culture -- empathy is taught (don't pull the cat's/dog's tail -- that hurts the cat etc OR don't hit mommy -- that hurts mommy). There is also a lot of behavior research which indicates that some children seem to be innately empathetic and that others are taught to be empathetic by their parents.

There is also a lot of research which suggests that some forms of psychopathology (mental illness) is inherited. Manic depression -- for example.

Whatever we tag we put on bushies mental illness -- I think we all agree that there is something seriously wrong with bush. He seems to have a long history of being self centered and also a bully -- leader of a gang of boys on bikes (in book -- Fortunate Son).

The brain in a chemical factory -- and mental illness can be thought of brain chemistry illness. Now it would seem that by introducing massive amounts of chemicals to a delicate chemical balance that is the human brain -- that the brain would be seriously fucked up even if the person stops abusing alcohol and cocaine.

THEN if we add prescription drugs that bushie may be using -- perhaps given by his handlers who many not have any knowledge of drug interactions and/or effects of existing mental illness.

Bottom line bushie is one of the most fucked up Prez in history -- regardless of any cultural mental health label.
