Bush claimed to have met with the Congressional Black Caucus
Technically, he was right. He DID meet with them. Once. On January 31, 2001 - eleven days after he was sworn in.

And he hasn't met with them since.

1. Bush met with CBC twice.
He's met with them again this year re: Haiti.

4. He dropped in on a meeting that 12 members of the 40-member Caucus were
having with Condi Rice and Colin Powell after the members demanded that they speak to the president (who they knew was down the hall). Bush stopped by and talked to them for less than half an hour.

I don't think this qualifies as "meeting" with the Congressional Black Caucus. But even if it does, bookending two meetings at the very beginning and very end of his first term is hardly an impressive record - especially given the number of times the CBC has begged to meet with him in the last four years.

And, of course, he had no answer to Kerry's correct assertion that he also refused to meet with the NAACP.

2. He didn't invite them -- they just showed up because he would not
meet with them -- they left him no choice. They all drove up to the White House and demanded to see him. NPR mentioned this after the debate.

3. Which time, 2 meetings have been raised in this thread.
Also, I think I vaguely remember Charlie Rangel saying something similar to what you are saying now.
