I What have you learned from your wife and daughters?
I did not think this was a good question for such an important decision that people have to make.

Don't get me wrong, I believe in strong women, I have 3 in my house.

But, this was the final question in a Presidential debate during such a critical time when our country is so divided and there are so many issues that they did not cover, and after all, we are not electing a First Lady or First Family.

Bush's first response did raise a question with me:
BUSH: To listen to them.

(LAUGHTER)

To stand up straight and not scowl.

The question: Do you suppose it was Laura that slapped shrub boy into shape after the first debate?

3. I saw it as an attempt to get the candidates to talk about the roles of
women in this society and get a glimpse of how progressive, sexist, or otherwise each was. Schieffer did not want them to launch into a "I'm all for equal rights" BS speech but wanted them to get real. Bush's answer was very revealing; if the best thing he can say about what he's learned from women is that they boss him around telling him to stand up straight (and that he basically ignores them), that is a pretty clear picture of how he views women.

6. After all Babs ruled his life
as a boy; at least, when she was around. His swagger and tough talk is cover for his submission to and disdain for women.

5. Actually I thought that was a great question
Especially since people complain about Kerry not connecting and people not feeling like they "know" him. I thought Kerry answered beautifully, and I saw at USAToday (I think it was, I'll look for a link) that his answer got a very positive reaction.

I think it's what he needed, and how great it was that it was what ended the debates. The last image in people's heads of Kerry from these debates will be one of sincerity and love for his family.

7. Kerry's answer
actually brought tears to my eyes. Thinking about his mother, ill, telling him, "Integrity, Integrity, Integrity..." The *Bush group has absolutely no integrity, and I so crave for our country's leadership to have it again.
I thought Kerry's answer was absolutely fabulous. His quip about "marrying up" was also really funny!
