http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&ncid=1963&e=9&u=/ap/20041014/ap_on_el_pr/debate_fact_check<<WASHINGTON - The last presidential debate highlighted words President Bush (news - web sites) forgot he had spoken, a meeting John Kerry (news - web sites) thought never happened, but did, and a refusal on both sides to back off questionable statements that have practically become classics through repetition.
..snip..
Kerry claimed once more that Bush has lost 1.6 million jobs, about twice as many as have actually disappeared. The persistent discrepancy comes from his not saying that the losses he speaks of are in the private sector, and are mitigated by job gains in public service. He let go of another regular misstatement, however, this time using an accurate figure on the cost of the Iraq (news - web sites) war>>
"Now, Calvin Woodward of AP, DOES list probably TWO things that Bush was untruthful about: the Osama comment, and the part about Kerry supposedly voting "98 times" to raise taxes. BUT!! The Osama comment, which to anyone that CARES about their safety, is the BIGGIE! And.. it's buried DEEP into the article, with not much fanfare. The rest of the piece is ALL against Kerry, accusing him of lying.
I have been uncovering so many of these articles lately, with "ap_on_el_pr" in the URL. I have been told before, by people in the media who post here, that they have received nearly the identical info that day AS A PRESS RELEASE from the RNC or Bush Campaign. So.. it's AP_ON_the election_press release, that has been reworked a bit to not look SOOO partisan. Lazy ass "journalism" at best, scandolous partisanship at the worst. I can guarantee something called "DEBATE FACT CHECK" was faxed out from the RNC last night or early this morning.
