Elizabeth Edwards' GREAT response to Lynne Cheney's Ugly comments
Elizabeth Edwards has a GREAT response (and its on Drudge too !!!)....

It LOOKS nasty on the Drudge front page, but when you get to the article it is a GREAT quote.

ELIZABETH EDWARDS ON ABC RADIO: "She's overreacted to this and treated it as if it's shameful to have this discussion. I think that's a very sad state of affairs… I think that it indicates a certain degree of shame with respect to her daughter's sexual preferences… It makes me really sad that that's Lynne's response."

5. Here is an article to make the Mary Cheney issue moot:
http://www.usatoday.com/news/conv/037.htm

From the 2000 campaign, USA TODAY:

<<Also, the party's expected embrace of former defense secretary Dick Cheney's openly lesbian daughter could help convince voters that Bush's "compassionate conservatism" is genuine.

The daughters of Bush's vice presidential pick arrived here with their parents Sunday. A close friend said that Mary Cheney, 31, will have a role beyond the convention and will be constantly at her father's side during campaign trips.

"It's a very positive thing for this country to see, for the first time in history, someone on a national ticket with an openly gay child," said Kevin Ivers, spokesman for the Log Cabin Republicans, a national organization of 11,000 gay voters that Bush met with during the primaries. "It shows that it's something they know very personally about. It's an issue they have a special sensitivity about."

6. I hate the kerry aide quote further down -
saying <snip>
Senior Kerry aide acknowledges "it was not his best moment,"
<snip>
I thought it was one of his great moments
to show acceptance that God made gays - gay
that is an enormous leap for people

Elizabeth says sexual preference

it isn't a preference - it is the person being who they are are - that is what kerry said

it is accepting it is not a choice but the way they were born

this is the point here

this is why it is getting rw up in arms - they still want to believe you can psychology this OUT of the person or some how correct this -

there is nothing to correct
accept people for the way God made them - period
and give them benefits and standings that support their relationships and protect their rights too

9. Why isn't she running the campaign?
I'm being serious. I remember when JK, JE, THK and EE were on 60 Minutes right after Edwards was picked. The interviewer asked the two candidates about their support of tax hikes for the wealthy, and both tried to field the question, giving long, ponderous, and rambling responses that didn't accomplish anything. EE came in and smacked the crap out of that question. One or two sentences, tops. I remember wishing that they would just go to her for all of their responses ... and she's done nothing since to make me think differently.

10. I think in many ways EE is the driving force behind JRE and in many ways
Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 01:13 PM by AP
I think JRE's primary campaign had a big influence on the the strategy of the K-E campaign. So, in a sense, she is responsible for a big part of the message.

I'd also like to add that one of the first sig lines I had here at DU was a picture of EE. Nobody knew her in 2003. Bet they know her now.

11. AND , she is attuned to DU according to her blog on the KE site (and Chris
Heinz has posted here) and I think DU has influenored the campaign hugely, frankly, because we give voice to all those thoughts that probably are muted within the campaign itself.

And if they are picked up by Chris Heinz or Elizabrth Edwards or others over there then more power to them AND to us.

EE rocks though, for sure.

I think she is becoming the cool hero of the campaign. The stealh political Yoda, only beautiful.
