NRA Endorses Stephanie Herseth for Congress
<<REP. STEPHANIE HERSETH ENDORSED BY NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION

NRA Recognizes Herseth’s “A” Rated Voting Record in Congress and Commitment to Protecting Second Amendment Rights

October 12, 2004, Sioux Falls, SD – Rep. Stephanie Herseth has received the endorsement of the National Rifle Association (NRA) for her support of Second Amendment rights and her “A”-rated voting record in Congress.

“Our endorsement of your candidacy is based on your commitment to protecting our Second Amendment rights and hunting heritage,” said Jason Osborne, NRA Federal Affairs Liaison in an endorsement letter. Osborne continued, “As a Member of Congress, you have proven to be a loyal and consistent friend of South Dakota gun owners and sportsmen.”>>

The funny thing is, Herseth's opponent was endorsed by the NRA in the special election.

Personally, I think Stephanie's terrific, and I think that kow-towing to the NRA is tiny price to pay to ensure she keeps her seat in Congress. This is South Dakota after all, and the NRA is very strong there. And with Bush almost certain to carry the state by at least twenty points, she needs all the help she can get.

2. Agreed, South Dakota is a very, VERY pro-gun state.
I grew up there.
