Rush Limbaugh doesn't think Kerry should have "outed" Mary.

Yet he mentioned it non-stop on his radioshow today. He's worried because some people might not have known she was a lesbian. Well, for someone that doesn't want it to be known, he did a horrible job of keeping it hidden. LOL

On Hannity and Colmes, he said he heard about Mary Cheney and the "lesbian" incident on Rush's show today. Alan Colmes corrected him by saying that John Kerry didn't "out" her, and explained to him the facts. Then the doctor said that he may be wrong about what he heard from Rush.

WTF... A Doctor getting his news from Rush? What is this world comming to? That doctor has no credibility with me now, and I don't even know who he is to start with.

Dobson, I mean. There was a great link (long lost in the fog, unfortunately) to an excerpt from one of his own books, wherein he details the battle he had with a 12-pound dachshund over whether or not the dachshund would sleep in its crate or on the rug in the bathroom. He never actually admitted to beating the dog, but he said something that included words like 'subsuming,' 'will,' and 'won.' When a man who is probably at least 175 pounds usees words like subsume, will and win in reference to an altercation with a 12-pound wiener dog, we're talking serious pathology.

This anecdote appeared in a book of advice on childrearing, by the way. If he beat up on a dachshund for wanting to sleep on the bathroom rug, can you imagine how he raised his children?

He's published many books, and is well accepted by some evangelical churches as an authority on child-rearing. I remember being shown a video from FOTF when I was about 13, at the Church Of Christ I attended with my folks when I still lived at home. It was about what a terrible, mind-numbing, hell-taunting sin masturbation was. See, we weren't supposed to even think about sex, because thinking about it was a sin, and masturbation was a sin. Forget what happens when you actually have it, unless you're married in the eyes of God.

Focus On The Family also does little clips called something like 'Family Minute with Dr. James Dobson' that they show on local newscasts all over the country.

so I don't think you really have to call him a doctor. He's a conservative christian leader, so he's probably a doctor of theology or something.

He has a huge audience and is about the most homophobic person you could ever imagine. He is one of the biggest most infulential proponents that Homosexuality is a learned behavior not inborn. The Chaney's daughter thing is a deflection from the fact that Bush didn't back up their "learned behavior" opinion.

Our side saying it loud and clear in two of the debates was a successful political tactic - we struck an effective blow (yay us, by the way); so successful that the other side had to react, and this is their reaction. Yes, if they *actually* wanted to keep Mary's secret (though it'd be hard to do that for a woman whose corporate job was trying to convince "her people" to drink piss beer), they would be keeping quiet now. But that's not the goal, now is it?

...but everybody seemed to know about that as well.
