Survey says
- 46% would vote for John Kerry if the election were today, 40% for Bush and 4% for Ralph Nader.
- Although more young people back Kerry, some of his support may be rooted in a lack of alternatives. Among Kerry supporters, 29% support him because they dislike the other candidates. Only 5% of Bush supporters say the same thing.
- 82% of registered voters say they will vote this year.
- 74% say this will be one of the most important elections, if not the most important, of their lifetime.
- 58% think the country has gone seriously off track.
- 41% would like to hang out with Bush for a day, 28% with Kerry.
- 46% say this is their first time voting while - 53% say this is not their first time.
Poll conducted in September by CBS News of 876 18- to 29-year-olds on behalf of MTV and the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement.

Thank goodness we have the debates to show America how Kerry's strength stands on its own and Bush's strength fades without a teleprompter.
