I think we're winning, and I'll tell you why.
I live in a very small town in Alabama (yes, Alabama). Today, I got to work and a friend of mine, very very religious friend, asked me about shrub's plan to privatize Social Security. I told her, then she looked all wide eyed and said she was voting for Kerry. Now this is a woman who questions NOTHING. She is very apolitical; in fact, she just got married and is redecorating a house so she hasn't had much time for debate watching (last night was her first time).

Also, my little town was always very pro repub. Lots of fundie churches and so on. When I drove home the other day, I turned into my road and there, in the median, was a Kerry Edwards sign. And it hasn't been torn down. There are other K/E signs up in town as well.

I can't impress on all of you how telling this is. Now I'm not saying K/E will take Alabama, but if these indications are here, in small town fundie USA, they're everywhere!

I truly believe, folks, we're going to take it. GO KERRY! GO EDWARDS!

1. I used to have hope. . .
Now I have faith.

For example, at work the focus was on the Lesbian Outting--that is showing how low you are digging for stuff to bitch about.

Today in Hollywood Video (I live in a suburban conservative Californian town) an old man asked the Manager for Farenhiet 9/11 on Video.

The Manager takes him to the section and tells him "we also have Faren HYPE 9/11 which is the other story".

The old man didn't care. I waited behind him in line while he filled out a membership form and paid for his video rental to take home to watch with his wife!

He opened a membership just to watch the movie--thanks Micheal Moore.

2. I sent an email to God last week
I was so concerned and it didn't come back as undeliverable. My message said: Dear God, Please don't let Bush be our President again.
(Something like that) and I sent it to God@heaven.com. I figure any sort of prayer is good and electronically is pretty powerful. I know it sounds crazy, but well, I'm waiting on a reply! Guess I'll find out on November 2.

3. I live in a solid blue State---
Connecticut. But that doesn't mean there are no Freepers here. In the last elections at this time there were Bush/cheney yard signs and car stickers. This time around there are less overall signs but ALL the yard signs I have seen in my area are for K/E. Less total overall than in 2000 but all K/E. Not one single B/C yard sign. And I have purposely taken different routes home from work just to check. I have yet to see one. So far, I have seen a total of ONE B/C car sticker, and this from a born again freeper that works in my building. That's it. I have seen a few Simmons (State Rep) signs but no B/C ones. Last elections you had both in people's yards. Either they are not supporting B/C this time around, or they are too ashamed to admit it.

13. I'm in Seattle...
you know, left coast San Francisco North ... one of the houses in my neighborhood was decked out with Bush/Cheney yard signs four years ago.

This year he has one sign up and it's inside, in his front window where you can barely see it.

I drove by the other day and finally saw yard signs, so I pointed them out to my wife later, thinking the B/C signs had finally come out. They were for Nethercutt (Senate) and Rossi (gov) but still no B/C yard signs, just the one in the window.

5. harboring homophobic thoughts of homosexuality and lesbianism
please permit me to invoke a french label on gwb, president sac de douche, or as they say in down home rural texas, president douche bag. gwb chose not to be gay and wants to amend the constitution to prohibit dick's daughter from settling down with the dyke she loves til death do they part. dick chose not be gay, loves his daughter very very much, but supports gwb solidly in his effort to block his little girl's attempts to tie the knot. ke04 both chose not to be gay, oppose the vp's darling, precious pumpkin from entering into holy matrimony and become one flesh in the eyes of god, and are against a constitutional amendment. they have all seen the light on this issue through prayer and guidance from god.

i know this about the debates:

kerry showed up as the same person all three times. confident, steady, knowledgeable, presidential.

gwb came to debate #1 as a sniveling, whiney, clueless, twitchy, flickery bozo who seemed to think his job was way hard and much too much work.

at debate #2 he appears as a shrill, screechy, angry, clueless bozo. consensus has it that he was much improved.

debate #3. gwb has good posture, square shoulders, unscowly, and prepared to rumble. i am sure that i saw a collection of spit foam in the corner of his mouth.

sprint to the finish line.

OMG WMD WTF

thank you for your time,

cubby (the cubster)

8. I think Kerry explained it in a way many people had not figured out before
Todays workers pay for those currently on SS.
I don't think shrub thought of it like that before, not that he would care.

9. Because I try to take note of this stuff
I'm an accounting student and I've tried to take a count of all the Bush/Cheney vs. Kerry/Edwards signs, stickers, etc since about labor day. Bush had an early lead, but then the debates came and Kerry began to come back, now today I counted 25 new K/E stickers on cars in my schools parking garage and 5 new lawn signs and I've had requests from four neighbors for lawn signs on top of that. I think the undecideds have decided, and they've choosen John Kerry. I think after the three debates people who are unsure of Kerry, but obviously haven't decided on Bush, realize that Kerry is electable and will serve us well. WV was considered a swing state, but it looks firmly locked in the Bush column in the polls. I'll be curious to see if they've shifted any at all in WV. I know ALOT of people who have cancelled their NRA membership after they started running the "That dog don't hunt" adds.

10. One of my best friends (who has never been into politics until now)
told me today: "I've never felt SO strongly about getting someone out of office in my life. I actually watched the debate last night and I was screaming at the T.V. to Bush 'you aren't answering the questions you f'ing idiot'." She's a middle school teacher and she is so appalled at how the children ARE TOTALLY being left behind. They've mainstreamed the special needs kids and she said it's REALLY bad for them and everyone else. She needs me to help her with her absentee ballot (I honestly don't think she's EVER voted before but is embarrassed to admit it-she's 43).

11. I don't know if anecdotal evidence is enough, but my small
red county is full of Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers and signs. Many of the signs have been stolen and someone stole my original John Kerry bumper sticker, but overall, I'm surprised and heartened by the number of people supporting the Dem ticket. I was doubly surprised to see a Kerry/Edwards sign displayed in the window of a small business downtown. That person is putting his money where his mouth is! I hope the cops watch his shop at night.
