HOLY SH*T! I just realized something......PROP 36 CO
IF Colorado is the ONLY change from the 2000 election than ....KERRY/BUSHIT TIE!!!!!!!! 269/269. There is NO way we can allow this to happen. I am NOW finally convinced that PROP 36 MUST GO DOWN for a defeat!

It is a dead heat here...we can't allow this to happen.

2. Ummm...
Have you thought about that model?

"IF Colorado is the ONLY change from the 2000 election. . ."

An EV tie is still an improvement on 2000.

I'm voting in favor of Prop 36.

5. If it's a tie, Bush wins.
Because the House votes for president then.

6. If it passes, I've heard California will be next
Would that be a good thing or a bad thing? That's what I thought.

It looks good in a vacuum, but it opens up a can of worms elsewhere.

4. Well, then - don't worry
The Republicans are with you. They've filed a suit to get it off our ballot.

7. If Prop 36 were in effect in 2000, Gore wins
I like it because it is a small step towards abolishing the Electoral College.

8. Must be national or not at all ...
If a Repub's vote gets counted in Colorado even if Colorado is blue ...

my vote in my red state is doubly not counted.

Disenfranchised in Nebraska. (They don't have to deny me the vote.)

9. This was already discussed...
In great depth here:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1069799

It covers why both proportional and direct voting are VERY bad ideas (I still haven't figured out which is worse) and why the electoral college, while slightly flawed, exists in the first place.

My opinion is still to modify the electoral college by removing the 2 votes from each state for its senators so that the electoral votes are more representative of the population in each state.

In other words, then Wyoming, for example, doesn't get 1/3 of the electoral votes of Colorado when it has 1/7 the population.

10. Oh and...
it's not Prop 36, per se, it is Amendment 36. An amendment to the Colorado State Constitution.

Be very careful any time you are voting to amend your state's constitution because undoing it, if it does not work, is VERY difficult.

But, this whole thing will likely not survive legal challenges even IF it passes anyway. The legal arguments against it are extremely compelling to say the least.
