Washington, Oct 16 : Oscar winner Michael Moore is suing the television channel, 'In Demand,' after its bosses have reneged on their decision to air his controversial documentary, 'Fahrenheit 9/11,' on the eve of next month's presidential election.

The documentary was to be aired on November 1 as a part of a three-hour election special. Moore, however, claims that they have pulled back under pressure from "top Republican people," reports E-Online.

Moore had earlier expressed his keenness on showing the documentary, which has become the most successful ever, on television due to which he had also pulled it out from the Oscar race and offered to give it to 'In Demand' for free.

"Apparently people have put pressure on them and they've broken a contract. We've informed them of their legal responsibility and we all informed them that every corporate executive that has attempted to prohibit Americans from seeing this film has failed," the report quoted Moore as saying.

Officials at 'In Demand' have refused to comment on why they are not showing the film. (ANI)

9. Right
Which means it wouldn't have been pumped into homes like Sinclair, it would have been a willing person watching. Two different situations. And now pressure from Republicans to not allow Americans free choice, totally wrong.

4. My email...
Type your question here...your refusal to air F/911 under pressure from "top republicans" is sadly just another shameful example of corp collusion with right-wing politics. i will NEVER order any shows from your company EVER AGAIN, and i will tell all my friends an family to do them same out of protest to your cowardly act. you see when you limit choice and a voice for the people you violate their trust and then there WILL be real-world consequences for you as with sinclair broadcasting as well...you should be ashamed of yourselves.

signed...and angry ex-customer.

7. If they already have a contract...
Then MM certainly has legal recourse. Unfortunately, it may not be airing the film, unless a court orders InDemand to provide specific performance of the contract. It could end up as a monetary settlement instead. But, we can hope!

Go, MM! Keep fighting the good fight!

My family and I are going to see MM on Monday. He's speaking in Salem, Oregon. Can't wait!

I don't think I can make it, but maybe my son can. Anywhere else in Oregon?

13. Eugene and Salem
In Salem, he's at the Fairgrounds. Doors open at 5:00, speech at 7:00 (I think, without looking at the tickets).

Is your son in Salem? I'm a law student at Willamette, so that's where I got my tickets. I'm not sure where he's speaking in Eugene--probably in conjunction with the U of O there. Tickets are only $5.

Hope your son can make it!

14. Thanks
He's at Western, we couldn't afford Willamette. Too bad, it's a great school. I'll tell him and also look at U of O to see if I can find the info there.

12. Maybe they should pay attention to their own name
Edited on Sat Oct-16-04 10:31 AM by txindy
It is "I Demand," not "At the network's pleasure." They are pay-per-view. If nobody wants to pay, there'll be no viewing. What are they afraid of? Yes, that's a rhetorical question! ;) People who support this coerced decision are the same ones who think Sinclair has the right to show whatever it wants because that is 'free speech'. What. A. Shock. Not.
