ROLL CALL: How is Kerry doing in your State?
What's your State?
How much momentum, if any, does Kerry have?
Do you think he has a good chance of winning your state?
If you have any anecdotal or polling evidence to share, please do.

Anecdotal evidence: Four years ago my neighborhood was evenly divided between Gore and chimp yard signs. This year there isn't a single chimp yard sign -- plenty of Kerry/Edwards signs though. This time around chimp supporters are apparently ashamed to admit it.

8. Texas
There's alot more Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers than you would think here in Houston. In one of the suburbs(Richmond) there's not a bush sign in sight. There are Kerry yard signs etc. all over the place! Basically, bush is going to roll, but look for it to be closer than you would think and look for some democratic congressional hopefuls to pull the upset.

24. In Dallas
In the City it looks very Kerry. Kerry signs everywhere. People who have signs for Sessions strangly do not also have bush signs. I see very few bush signs in general.

The suburbs may be different but downtown there does not seem to be strong support for bush

I was driving around today and saw entire blocks of Kerry signs and even saw some Frost people going door to door.

My feeling is republicans are supporting the party, not chimpoleon

We registered twns of thousands of new voters this year and are shifting gears to GOTV those folks as well as the couple of hundred thousand people who have been registered but never actually voted. I expect that Bush* will win Texas, but we will keep him below 55%.

9. NJ - uncertain, but probably winning more comfortably than the polls show
Edited on Sat Oct-16-04 05:05 PM by Doosh
RCP average puts it at:
Bush Kerry
RCP Average | 10/1-10/14 - - 44.0 49.2 2.0 Kerry +5.2

I feel Bush had some momentum in this state after the convention, but Kerry seized it from him after the first debate, that probably sealed it for him, though I doubt Bush would've won NJ even had Kerry had lost the debates.

Latest Rasmussen puts Kerry up 9, latest Star Ledger puts him up 6. I think this is like 2000 all over again, Gore didn't have that big a lead in NJ, but crushed Bush in the end.

85-90% chance Kerry carries NJ

10. NC
An uphill battle. Kerry down 7 points in latest poll of Oct. 4, but Bush won here in 2000 by over 13 points.

Anecdotal evidence was positive for Kerry in the past few weeks -- Dems with a 600,000 voter advantage over Repukes in registered voters, Kerry yard signs and bumper stickers popping up like crazy, BUT the Repukes have started to respond in kind. It's going to be closer than people are expecting. My prediction: Kerry by 8,000 votes.

178. I agree
Every week or so I drive through Wake Forest which is very conservative due to the Baptist Seminary. The number of Kerry signs in yards on Main Street has gone from 4 to 7 in one week. That's encouraging. Another encouraging sign I saw was a yard with a Republican Judicial nominee sign and a Kerry sign. So it looks like some Republicans can't bring themselves to support Chimp.

11. MN doesn't seem like a problem for us.
Kerry doesn't seem as concerned about it as Bush does, and believe me, with the average person/voter, these Bush visits are hurting him more than helping. Before his last visit, everyone at work was pretty "Not again!" Even among his own supporters, one of them said "God! I can't wait for this election to be over, I'm so sick of this crap!" Which was followed by a lot of "amens" and agreement.

Live in Northern VA -- have spent the last month canvassing, registering voters, signing up new volunteers and handing out literature at back to school nights to overwhelmingly proKerry response! There are signs and bumper stickers EVERYWHERE! I honestly believe that if we can get a high enough turnout in NoVA, the most populated area of the State, then Bushco may have a nasty surprise come Nov. 2!!

Over 450 volunteers attended!

Don't trust any poll. Many young voters here have no land lines. New registrations number in the 50K range and are massively democratic (significant in a state w/ 1 million registered voters). Volunteer efforts thus far have yielded 5 times the results of our opponents relatively meager attempts at mobilization.

Recruit your friends for election day activities (1800+ needed on Nov 2). We will win decisively here.

I see more Kerry then Bush stickers and yards signs, at least in the area where I work (Academy and Wyoming - if you live in Alb., you know what area I'm talking about). I was at a mattress store in that area on Saturday and the clerk was for Kerry, and I made the comment that perhaps most people in this area - being mostly elderly, and little more affluent - may be Republicans. He said that most people he had spoken to were Democrats. Of everyone where I work (11 people), only one is Republican, so my personal poll is in Kerry's favor for New Mexico. But I do think he will take New Mexico.

121. Washington no Contest: Kerry
The primary was the first in WA to require declaring voters declare a party affiliation for the primary (something that WILL get overturned with a referendum, by all counts), but it provided some interesting data - Dems were solid blue through Seattle and much of the east side (except for a few yuppie enclaves near Microsoft land). Issaquah, the easternmost town in King County and a remarkably accurate bellweather for presidential elections for the last twenty years, was as blue as it could be. I don't know how the rest of the state is trending (though I've heard Spokane was blue as well), but Kerry WILL take Washington hands down.

I live near Seattle, but I went to visit a friend out east in Ellensberg this weekend. We walked around through the residental areas and I noticed about seven Kerry signs, but only one Bush sign.

Here's the kicker...I passed by the city's Republican HQ. They had a bunch of signs up in the window for Rossi, Nethercutt, and a bunch of local politicians, but they didn't have a Bush sign at all! I was pretty shocked!

25. PA Here
Edited on Sat Oct-16-04 06:34 PM by DarthDem
Chester County, one of the five counties in the Philly metro area. ChesCo is reliably Rethuglican except for West Chester, the county seat and a college town, but the Democratic organizational effort here has been astounding - - tons of new registrations and canvassing events, et cetera. As far as anecdotal evidence, the total dearth of */Fascist yard signs and bumper stickers is amazing. The only signs you see are Kerry/Edwards. It's a beautiful thing. Finally, in the past several days, ads for Dumbass have unquestionably diminished, apparently confirming the rumored pullout.

Any poll or EV projection not reflecting PA for Kerry is a joke. It's a lock.

It doesn't get any closer here. Dead even most of the time. Things could really get interesting in this state if the proposition to divide the electoral votes gets passed. We could be the next Florida. I'm telling you, this is going to get ugly here.

And I wonder why it isn't coming up in more of those reports about how it will come down to 5 or 8 states.

Especially if that proposition passes.

You think people are figuring on the prop not passing and the state going red?

I do think the state will go to Kerry even without the prop, though I am scared Owens, etc., might cry voter registration fraud or some other BS to stall or co-opt it if it does turn blue.

235. Kerry campaign: "We can win Colorado"
I got this e-mail today:

Last Friday, I told you about an important strategy meeting taking place over the weekend. Now I want to report back about how that meeting went and how your efforts made all the difference.

Towards the end of every presidential campaign, strategists like me crowd into small conference rooms and huddle around spreadsheets with polling data and financial reports. We argue about the best course of action in key battleground states and then we argue with the finance guy about if we can afford it. These meetings usually involve a series of tough decisions guided as much by cash shortages as they are by strategy.

The meeting we had this weekend was different. Time and time again when we decided on the best strategy to win a state and turned to the finance guy his answer was "go for it." It was "go for it" because of the contributions you made just last week.

You deserve some specifics: At one point during the meeting, talk turned to Colorado. Many pundits thought this state was in the win column for George Bush. But polls show this is not the case -- we can win Colorado. We decided that we should be aggressive here and once again the answer was "go for it." On the night of November 2, when Colorado is called for John Kerry, know it was because of you.

I just wanted to say "thank you" -- you continue to make the difference.

Let's get it done,

Michael Whouley
General Election Strategist

Many seem to be fearful that they will lose their right to arm themselves with the largest cannon money can buy.

Very much against abortion, stem-cell research, gay rights.

Absolutely refuse to acknowledge the possibility that the War in Iraq was a mistake. Because anyone that does is a Leftist-Liberal who does not support the troops.

No problem with pollution, as long as it benefits big business...because they only relate the "cost" to money, not to any effects of that pollution. And to illustrate how ignorant many of them are, there is no global warming, because Indiana had a cooler summer than normal.

They seem to think that if an individual has problems, be they financial, physical, mental, substance abuse...blah, blah, blah, that their family should all chip in and help them out. That's a real heart-warming scenario. But those of us that don't live in the Bush/Bizarro world realize that not all families are able to do that.

And, last but not least...they all belong to the "If you're not with us, you're against us club".

I could go on and on....Now, aren't you glad you asked?

42. Kansas is still under 9/11 Propaganda Coup spell...
Why do many of the most intelligent people here care about the hidden truth of 9/11?

Because it's the only thing would take the Bush/Cheney regime out and give Democrats here a chance!

And it WOULD work too...people are sceptical about the Government here, and when the Government doesn't have truth on it's side the opposition party can just bring those facts to folks attention. There's not nearly so much psychological resistance as the corporate media would like you to imagine. I've found this out from experience.

BTW, Mike Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 was enormously popular here. If Moore instead of Kerry was the canidate, the Dems might have scored a surprise win in Kansas!

I was talking to a Jewish friend of mine who says he'll never vote for McKinney again. What's that all about? He also said that the Jewish community won't vote for Majette because they feel betrayed by her (in his opinion, it was the Jewish community that voted in Majette to get rid of McKinney). Anybody know anything about this?

Sounds painfully like New York to me. Two core democratic constituencies (African-Americans and Jews) fighting against one another and aiding the Republicans in the process.

If whoever the libertarian candidate was would get as much press as Nadar, then Kerry could win this state. I think those libertarian ideals appeal to lots of suburban southerners who don't care about guns or god or gays, they just want low taxes and the freedom to do whatever they want in their own homes.

Another thought is we need all the poor people to vote. But they'll probably stay home as usual. Although Majette should help gotv.

Bush 51, Kerry 41, Nader 0 (Zogby, 10/13-10/15, 503 LV)
That's probably about right. Slowly trending Kerry, but not enough to catch up (this time).

Senate:
Isackson (R) 53, Majette (D) 35 (Zogby, 10/13-10/15, 503 LV)
That's absurd! She'll pull at least 43%, I'd wager.

GA 03
Marshall (D) 53, Clay (R) 24 (Mellman, 10/3-10/5, 400 LV)
That's equally absurd. Marshall is in a tough fight, here. Clay and the R's have put a significant amount of money into this race.

That's what I've seen, anyway. :smoke:

Edited on Sat Oct-16-04 06:51 PM by Hippo_Tron
Louisiana will probably not go to Kerry but our efforts in getting people to vote democratic are a big deal in this state. We need to keep Louisiana blue in state elections so that eventaully we will be blue again in national elections. Besides, it's so entertaining to see the Republicans all pissed off when they don't win statewide elections in a deep southern state.

Just by judging yard signs, Nancy Thompson (D) has easily outnumbered Lee Terry (R) signs (Silly Bush refers to him as Terry Lee). Kerry/Edward signs, I'm seeing about a 10:1 ratio.

We may be Florida again . Turn out among Blacks and non Cuban Hispanics will be crucial . Jeb and Katherine's successor Glenda Hood are working overtime to suppress the vote . The Kerry Team needs to be prepared to take these thugs to court and win this time .

In the Houston area, the number of Chimp/Cheney signs is way, way lower from last time. The wingnuts around here will all still vote Chimperor, but they aren't going to proclaim it publicly. They know he's a miserable failure, but he is a "conservative".

If Kerry had resources to burn, he could actually make more of a race of it. Since he has limited resources, it's smart just to let this cowturd of a state flop where it will.

Most recent poll shows Kerry down by 2 points (49-47). Poll was done by Survey USA, concluding October 4th.

My experience canvassing in the Kansas City area is positive. We call on voters who were previously put down as undecided. They are going well better than 2 to 1 for Kerry.

But, the other side is not standing still. Judging by yard signs, I think the fundies are behind a stealth GOTV effort.

100. Oklahoma - Not Much Here
It looks pretty bleak here in OK (yes, I know I have a Texas flag avatar; that's because I'm from Texas and I'm a orange-blooded fan of the Texas Longhorns). Kerry's showing in the Oklahoma polls is about as bad as it is in Texas (about 62 - 37 percent).

However, I've seen quite a few Kerry signs around my current city of Norman, OK. Kerry has a much greater presence here than Gore did in 2000. Sad to say, though, we have one less Kerry sign around here. SOME STUPID FREEPER STOLE MY KERRY SIGN FROM MY FRONT LAW THIS EVENING!!!

Well, maybe that's a good sign (pardon the pun)...maybe the Freepers are worried about a surprise Kerry showing in the polls here next month.

We'll keep fighting the good fight.

I've read reports that Carson has taken a 3-point lead in the polls over the weekend. I'm hoping he can hold on. I'd really like to see Sen. Frist get moved to the "Senate Minority Leader" section of the Capitol next year. I'm so tired of that pompous, partisan ass.

Good one, Cosmic!

Depending on how you look at it, moving to OK from TX can be bad or good. It's bad from the view that there is not much quality education or entertainment in OK as compared to Texas.

But, from another point of view, it's not bad, considering OK has a Democratic governor and legislature (although the GOP is fighting like mad to control the state House). Compared to the near-stranglehold that the GOP has in Texas, living here isn't all that bad.

Thanks for asking, though.:hi:

163. I've Lived in Both TX and OK Since Shrub Took Office
As you would expect there are positives and negatives with both.

I do think that the economy and employment opportunities are better in Texas than in Oklahoma though. I worked in Dallas and was recruited to a position in Tulsa and was laid off along with about thirty percent of my co-workers about a year later. Still unemployed nearly two years later. There are businesses leaving Tulsa because it makes more economic sense to be elsewhere - and what replacement jobs there are are mostly call centers. Tulsa has had problems losing its oil and gas and aerospace businesses for at least the last twenty years. Of course, finding employment is hard just about everywhere these days.

Moving from Texas to Oklahoma is definitely not moving up. In my case there are non-monetary personal quality of life issues that make it something other than a step down. Even so, I'm ready to find a greener pasture.

Democrats are not well organized here, but that is the nature of Democrats. Out State Missouri, (Not Kansas City, St. Louis) seems to get little attention. Many strong Democrats are feeling abandoned in out state Missouri. If Missouri goes Republican the only people you can blame are Democrats and lack of organization.

An example I walked into Democratic Headquarters in Jefferson City last month looking for a Kerry sticker. There were at least five people in the office. I was ignored. I left and no one took my name or asked me if I even wanted to make a contribution. I had three hundred dollars in my pocket. Democrats now have that money, but not in Jefferson City.

210. MO will be all about turnout
If we can get out our vote in the cities, we'll win. That simple.

From the canvassing I've done in KC, we're even picking up some moderate Republicans. We've apparently also picked up some surprising support: I knocked on a door Saturday that had a huge sticker on it saying, "This home has a gun inside; there's nothing here worth stealing to give your life for". I was a little apprehensive knocking on the door of a potential freeper with a gun.

Big freeper-looking guy answered the door. I started my spiel and he cut me off, saying that he's voting for Kerry, then went into a rampage against Bush (whom he'd voted for in 2000). The reason? Ashcroft and the Patriot Act. He even asked me for a bumper sticker.

MO is still in play.

112. LA - Don't Laugh, I think we could go blue
before you laugh, registered democrats outnumber registered republicans nearly 3 to 1 here in this state. Our now Governor Kathleen Blanco was believed to be double digits behind Republican front runner Bobby Jindal just days before the election. Voter Registration numbers are at or higher than they have been in any election cycle since David Duke ran for Governor here.

Based on my voter registration experience, democrats and "none"/anti-bush are registering at a rate of 9 to 1 (if not more). People are energized and excited about participating in this election and getting Bush out of office.

The citizens of Louisiana are generally suspicious of any and all politicians, and rightfully so.

Clinton took LA in 1992 and 1996. Admittedly, latest poll shows shrub with a 15 point lead, but that's absurd. Anyway, you folks have another one of your 3 candidate, nail-biter Senate races going on, don't you? That ought to bring a lot of dems. to the polls (or does everyone just wait to vote in the run-off, cuz that's the vote that matters?)

LOL. Gotta love LA! :toast:

231. Regardless of the presidential race, we MUST keep LA blue in state races
I'm not counting Kerry out of an LA win, but I think that * has the upper hand. Regardless, we need to keep democrats winning in statewide races and eventually make this state blue again for future presidential races. We need to get those 3 to 1 registered democrats to vote democratic again. BTW although I think that Blanco is pretty much a DINO, I was very happy to see her run tasteless attack ads on Jindal. If the Repukes aren't going to keep it clean then there's absolutely no reason that we should.

So I put up two more! My brother and I have been passing around F9/11 to all our redneck friends and I swayed a * voter at work. I asked he why she was voting for IT. She said because of the Lesbo Cheney daughter remark Special K said. So I begged her to watch F9/11 before she voted. So maybe I am gaining some headway!?

122. welcome here!

Hey, don't get down too much. Those of us keeping an eye out are impressed with Kathleen Sibelius getting into office and Dennis Moore hanging on. They asked H.L. Mencken once why he stayed in the U.S. if he despised so much of it, and he asked them: why do people go to zoos?....

And that story with the train stops in Kansas that K/E stopped at and the crowds of thousands were waiting at at early hours of the morning in July or August, that's going to be the enduring bit about Kansas in this election.

So hang in there...the Christian Right is getting close to the end of the line nationally and we'll start seeing them fade all over in the next couple of years. And come visit us every now and then and get out of Where The Wild Things Are for a little bit.... :-)

119. How is Kerry doing in my state?
Well, I'd say he's doing very good, considering I live in his opponent's backyard (Texas). The Democratic Party is experiencing a rebirth in the state, I think, largely because of the current campaign. I don't think * has to worry about losing his home state, but the machinery of the Democratic Party is enthusiastically being rebuilt after several years of decline.

It's hopeless in this state (this election cycle), which is why I was in New Mexico for several weeks helping out there.

New Mexico is much more liberal than Texas I would have to say, and Kerry has a good chance there.

Still it's really split down the middle because Southern NM is right wing, and Northern New Mexico is more liberalish.

I'm hoping to head to Nevada next to help out there.

Oh, and Austin (LBJ's old home) is liberal as usual. It was nice seeing all the anti-Bush bumper stickers when I came back.

125. Demographics are always changing though

Texas used to be solidly liberal-Democratic when California was conservative, and now the two states have reversed.

Virginia used to be solidly Republican, and now Kerry is within a few points of Bush there and the state has a Democrat governor.

So, things always change.

130. Connecticut - Kerry ahead, but surprisingly close
Recent polls have shown Kerry ahead by 6-7 points, when some earlier polls had it 15-20 ahead. I see at least 20-25 Kerry/Edwards signs or anti-Bush signs for every 1 Bush/Cheney sign. No exaggeration.

So, I'm not sure if these polls have been Galluped, though, meaning they have been over-weighted with Republicans.

I'm in CT and sense much greater support for Kerry. Even in my Republican town there is a fair amount of discontent. Many towns are split pretty evenly between Dems, Repubs and Unaffiliated. The unafilliated seem to be heavily in support of Kerry.

We have a surprisingly close rece in the 2nd district for the House. Jim Sullivan (Dem) has low name recognition compared to Simmons (incumbenrt R), and is almost tied in the polls. According to Uconn it is because the district is 62% Kerry.

I think Nutmeggers are fed up.

164. Nebraska could give 1 electoral vote
Nebraska is about as Red State as you can get, and that is what gives me real hope. Lincoln's congressional district could very possibly go Kerry, giving him 1 of Nebraska's 5 electoral votes.

More areas could follow, the split for Bush statewide will be much smaller than last time around. There is a lot of discontent and anger toward Bush/Cheney, even out here in western Nebraska, which is the reddest part of the state.

I am heartened by the fact that knowing how Red State Nebraska is, other less right-leaning, more moderate states the GOP thinks are in the bag just might not be.

I have a friend who is a devout Evangelical fundamentalist who recently switched parties from Repug to Dem, and several family members who voted Bush or Nader last time are going Kerry in 04.

My two kids who are in college and who were not old enough to vote in 2000 have already voted Kerry by absentee ballot. They took some crap - disguised as good-natured teasing - in our little Class D high school (ie enrollment of under 120) for not being Right Wingers, from friends, teachers and administration.

I am one proud mom.

204. It is true. There is a sea shift going on here.
I don't think we'll really make a difference in the General Election unless the lawyers have to get involved.

District 2 (Omaha) is very blue, and just across the river from Iowa. If Iowa goes blue and District 2 goes blue and we're still short on Electoral Votes, there will be grounds for argument that Nebraska's EV should be split citing Regional interests.

Hope it doesn't come down to that. But I'm ready for a fight here!

My in-laws in Western Nebraska HATE Bush. First election in my 26 years of marriage that I know they are voting Democrat! Yay!

227. Nebraska split
If the 1st and 2nd congressional districts in Nebraska could both go Blue, that would create a major split. Those two combined easily outnumber the 3rd District populace, which will still go Bush, however reluctantly.

Still, if Lincoln and Omaha both deliver for Kerry, both congressional districts carry one EV each and together they would carry the state's popular vote, adding 2 more EVs, leaving just 1 EV from outstate Nebraska for Bush.

Damn I hope your right about Omaha. I hadn't heard that.

160. AZ -- could be an upset
All the polling data indicates we're a bit behind here, but if organization and enthusiasm count for anything, along with new voter registrations, we should improve on Al Gore's 46% (Chimpy got 52, rest Nader, etc.)

Ralph isn't on the ballot this year. The Libertarian is, and should poll at least 1%, maybe 2, mostly from Chimpy.

We're hopeful enough that we're all working hard. Organizing conventions for GOTV are being held all over the place now. If you're a registered Democrat here, you've been pestered constantly and we will drag you, kicking and screaming if necessary, to the polls.

I'll have a better feeling for this as we get closer, but AZ might -- just might -- be the upset of the evening on Nov. 2.

169. Hi neighbor
In MS I don't really have a feel for it... strange but I don't. The ARG poll of last month had it a lot closer than I would've figured... * was only polling 51% in that poll, but Kerry was at 42. I see about an equal number of bumper stickers for each, but I am in a college town--albeit one that went red in 2000. I just haven't seen much polling. The big issue here has been the fat pig of a Governor cutting Medicaid rolls. Didn't go over well and didn't go through.

I've convinced two R's to vote for Kerry and may soon get a third.... a moderate Repub cousin on the coast with a Dem husband and one draft-age son. This week I plan to volunteer to work on the college campus distributing Kerry material. Anything's better than sitting at this desk fretting over BS polls. (I think this thread tells the truth!)

My gut call is that we go * but that Kerry gets close to 45 percent. I will be very surprised if he doesn't get 40 percent. Gore got 40 percent in this state and I think that everywhere, nationwide, there is much more anger and disappointment with this regime.

NEVER let anyone convince you that your vote doesn't matter! Even in a state that's seemingly a "lock" for one candidate or the other. Even if the GOP carries your state, if their margin is much less than they expected, it will make them worry! (Likewise for blue states... don't let the GOP even think that it's making inroads.) THAT is the kind of difference your vote will make in a "solid" state.

I know that the latest electoral college map reflected that MS was pink and not a definite red.

I have not seen any B/C signs and lots of Kerry signs. More Kerry bumper stickers than B/C too. The circuit clerks say that 6500 new voters registered in Harrison Co - 2500 in Jackson Co. - 300 in George Co. and 400 in Hancock Co so if the trend that new voters want a change, then that is a good sign from down here.

I am hoping and praying that we will surprise the nation! Can blame me for that.

Bush clobbered Gore here four years ago. I don't think Kerry has enough momentum to win here, but he probably won't lose by 15 points; maybe seven or eight. He'll defintely win Louisville/Jefferson County, where I'm at, and probably Lexington/Fayette, but there are an awful lot of Hatfield and McCoy rural voters who love that macho Bush crap. There is no shortage of city-billies either.

I think the state does have a better chance of picking up a Democratic rep, and maybe Jim Bunning's Senate seat.

Maybe someone could comment on other areas in Louisiana. Also, at the University (ULL) there is huge support for Kerry. Check in people in the Northern areas. Also, I believe that there are a large amount of closet Kerryites. As it is everywhere in this country right now, former * supporters are either ashamed or afraid to admit they're not voting for *.

I live in Gainesville, which is like more than 2-1 Dems to Rethugs, so my view is very buffered. If Gainesville represented Florida, Kerry would have it and then some. However, my mom did some door-to-door canvassing this weekend in the Orlando area and was not very encouraged by it. She went to Dem and Indie households and she said she encountered far too many Dems voting for Bush. I can only hope it's an abberition (it IS Seminole County we're talking about here), but she has become very discouraged by the experience.

Honestly, Florida's too goddamn weird to predict. You've got the panhandle, which is like the Old South (might at well be Georgia), liberal Gainesville, then central Florida, which is a total mixed bag, the west coast cities, which I honestly don't know much about, and then south Florida, which I believe is more liberal, except for the giant Cuban population, which is mainly Republican. It's like four states in one!

No way this state's going red!

I read something over the weekend that voter turnout in Milwaukee County will be in the 80-85% range. I couldn't believe it! I certainly hope so.

Keep in mind that Milwaukee County is the largest county in the state. It is also very Dem-leaning, with a heavy black population. And a black population that carried a 98% vote for Gore in 2000. Add to that a semi-challenging senate race with the popular Russ Feingold (where his competitor, who barely stands a chance, has been running lots of attack ads). And there's the opportunity to elect the first black representative ever from Milwaukee County (Gwen Moore).

This is a state that Gore won by only a few thousand votes. And Dems are much more motivated this year than in 2000 (where there was a lot of apathy). I'll be shocked if Wisconsin turns to the dark side this year.

Yeah, it's anecdotal but I have to say in my heavily republican neighborhood in IL, there are very few Bush signs here and a noticeable lack of enthusiasm for Bush. It was not this way in the 2000 election.

We all keep hearing from the MSM that Bush's republican support is fired up and solidly behind him. It's complete Bull. Truth is, Bush has lost a significant part of his base and this will be a decisive factor in his defeat.

Laura and Geore P were here last Mon and Tues....Bush was in Hobbs that same Monday...

This Kerry rally should be huge. Al Gore 4 years ago came into town just a couple of days before the election and had 10,000+ at a night appearance....
