Shrum dismantled Mehlman on Meet The Press
The difference between the two was glaring!

Mehlman might as well have been a wind-up doll, not straying from prepared marks.

Shrum appeared in command of the facts and able to think on his feet. It reminds me so much of a locally-produced show here that is sort of like Crossfire where the Republican guy is always coming off as bitter and vitriolic and the Democrat is trying to engage in true debate and discussion.

2. I loved it
Shrum was say he didn't answer the question he gave a talking point. Then Timmy would give Mehlman another shot and he would repeat the same crap. LOL what an asshat.

3. The whole truth in one sentence:
Edited on Sun Oct-17-04 09:48 AM by PSU84
"The Republican guy is always coming off as bitter and vitriolic and the Democrat is trying to engage in true debate and discussion."

This one sentence sums up the current political situation in America today. How can we reason with opponents who are immune to facts, who are totally unable or unwilling to acknowledge reality??

7. That was the best Meet The Press. Ever.
Shrum: "With Kerry you have a man who will defend America AND fight for the middle class"

THat has to be the slogan going into the last 2 weeks!

And then they had the hottest bulge pic ever and Tim obviously knew it was a Receive-A-Cue but just chuckled when Mehlman said maybe it's aliens and he's receiving signals and that tailor has been fired.

Can we talk to Bush's tailor--now there's a new idea.

"The BC04 campaign just said you should be fired as tailor because of the suit you sold the President. What do you think about the inferior "dressure" the White House is accusing you of?"

5. It was sure great to see a Dem take charge!
I get so tired of watching them lay down and get steamrolled by the overly aggressive RW.

6. Best Line....
Russet asks melman what is the deal with the bulge in shrub's suit. Mellman, being funny, say it was, "to get messges from aliens in outer space". Shrum quickly retorts,"so you sent Rove up in space?"

9. You don't have to be fast with these rethugs
Edited on Sun Oct-17-04 10:13 AM by PCIntern
They say the same thing over and over and over. You just have to get ready - that's why Kerry was ready in the deabates - * just repeats himself and it's like playing Tee-ball.

11. Mehlman didn't answer the question!
Mehlman offered MORE OF THE SAME TODAY. He NEVER ANSWERED the questions. When asked, Mehlman, like W in the debates, just spun off, changed the subject and never came back to the question. This appears to be a Republican STRATEGY. When they do answer, there's no substance, just more of their canned, misleading propaganda. These people are unconscionable and unaccountable. WHY ARE THEY ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH THIS?????

Kerry, in the debates and in his appearances, and Shrum today, have answered questions with substantive, detailed answers. There is no NEED for them to hide their agenda!

Anyone who votes for these Republicans DESERVES WHAT THEY'LL GET!!!

Unfortunately, the rest of us will suffer too.

20. Melman must have gotten the memo from Luntz
Didn't just a few days ago, Republican focus group & polling guru Frank Luntz advise the Bush campaign to avoid facts and just try to run on fear?

13. You've got to give Mehlman credit for breath control! He's a non-stop
disinformation MACHINE for 100 percent of his turn to speak, and 20 percent of the other guy's. He was talking so fast his false teeth were about to pop out!

17. What's amazing is that Russert
helped demolish the lesbian remark outrage . Also , Tim was all over the doofus Repub from South Carolina . Can you imagine where we would be in this country if the media were honest and even handed ?

18. True. Russert was on target today but Bush's Freind Bob Schieffer...
gave Tad Devine a hard time and let Giulliani say whatever he wanted.

I remember his hand was constantly in Clinton's trousers during the "impeachment" fiasco.

25. When I saw the lineup for the show,
I wondered why the Repukes would put a boob like Mehlman up against a real pro like Bob Shrum. The above poster was right when he/she said Mehlman was like a wind-up doll. I hated watching his mouth move. So gross.
